Hi Guys,
As the title says, for the 2007 model year, NO MANUAL tranny option will exist for GM trucks.
The origin of this petition is on dieselplace.com Would all you jbody members be kind enugh to help us out. Maybe we can open some eyes at GM. We should atleast have the option to decide what transmission we want in our trucks.
Thanks so much!!

by the looks of the site, it's just for trucks, not all gm cars. I could be wrong though, but that's just how i read it.
Yeah,
it is just for trucks, for the time being. just thought I would try to get as many sigs on it as possible. because you know manuals are in a minority nowadays.
thanks in advance.

truth is, Allison transmissions are far better than any manual that GM can produce for towing/hauling. so, the way for them to save money would be to drop the manual option. GM is actually making progress by doing this, i think we should be congratulating them
I've yet to see anything come of a petitiononline.com petition except for:
a: increased use of the word petition, and
b: wasted bandwidth.

it is still a matter of choice. when i am buying something, I buy it the way I want it, not the way they tell me I want it. GM does not prodice manual trannies. the light duties get a NVG 5 speed, and the HD's get a Z-F 6

automatics are the present and future
people are too lazy to shift now a days
that and they cant shift, drink their coffee, and talk on their cellphone, while changing the song on their iPod thats connected to their radio using their belkin fm transmitter

No, it's not a matter of choice. This isn't like choosing what job you want or where you want to eat, this is a company making a business move.. most likely in the right direction. If you don't like it, you can do nothing about it except choose to not buy from that company.
yeeeeeeah I call
For one, I dont see the switch from manuals to automatics happening right now. 2. they WOULD lose buyers to the OTHER truck manufacturers that do produce it. 3. For some odd reason, I think I'd trust gminsidenews over dieselplace, and I dont see this topic on GMI AT ALL. Manual transmission WILL be there.

boo hoo. deal with it, or buy elsewhere.

go to gm's website and look at the difference in torque numbers between the auto and the manual. if u need to downshift in a duramax with a alison u simply push the brake pedal for each gear u want to shift down theres no reason for the manual anymore. it cant compete with todays automatics.
I have been around dealers for some time now. I don't know of any dealer I worked for or with that stocked manual light duty trucks. The people that did want manual were definately the exception by a huge volume. They had to order their trucks.
Manual trucks just don't sell. Developing and offering the manual becomes an extra cost that doen't have any return. I woudl bet that if you calculated what it actually cost to offer that manual in a particular truck, GM most likely is selling it at a loss.

If this holds true... and you feel strongly on this is issue, I would suggest to boycott GM's trucks. Because sadly, GM will only do on what is benificial for sales and not do what a select few wants.

if they had offered a manual with the 5.3L I think those would have sold quite a bit. You can only get manual with the 4.8L in the 1500s and that engine is weaksauce.
GM will stil prob list the auto as the option and charge you more for it too
when i was looking for a SS 2.4 cobalt , all the dealers had were autos , and i told them i would never buy 1 with a auto , laughed at the sales guy and left

It's a business. What would you expect them to do?
Ford tried this for one year, they made the manual tranny a special order item....that didn't last long.

Yep, to a degree, buthey could actually see what the market wants. Which is why GM is where it is at today; loosing market share.

If they made it an option for manual trannies, people would pay for it. They get the control over their car, they get better gas mileage, and they get "faster shifting." So if they really wanted to make them the option they would have. But they're making a smarter move IMO by doing away with the manual in a truck. How many people do you see driving a manual truck now? Not very often.

That's so sad, yet so true.
Whenever Jacob & I were looking for my cavalier to buy it, we thought that we'd never find a manual transmission. Found several 00-02 Z's, but they were all auto's. And I refuse to drive an auto. So we got lucky when we finally found mine, on the way home. Manuals are becoming outdated and it's sad.....
