Ok guys, I live just about a rock thow from the Hummer H1 and H2 plants, they are right down the street. In the morning paper they said that the 06 model of the civilian H1 will be the last H1 produced for street use. I know these trucks are over priced and DRINK gas, but it is a staple of our community, this sucks!!! Give me your thoughts on the vehicles
If i won the lottery, an H1 would probably be the first car id buy. Sad
Good riddance I say.. I got cut off by one the other day.. The girl driving it didn't look any older than 16.. Just glad I have good brakes or should have drove right ontop of my hood!!

definetly sucks they're getting rid of the "real" hummer. Its a business move though, the H1s just dont sell.
I read in an article somewhere, anyone who's really wanted an H1 would have purchased one already.
I think it's a smart move financially. The H1 isn't the kind of vehicle that is helping GM climb out of the hole.
i rather pick up a military version
Let me rephrase my first part
"I read an opinion in an article somewhere, stating that anyone who has really wanted an H1 has probably already purchased it." The market for this vehicle is very minimal.

Talk about a status symbol though, 140K on an american car that gets, if your lucky 8MPG. Can we say "I'm an American and I dont care what you think"? I like them for their power status, just screams brute force!
they should discontinue the H2. I love the H1.
Great, get rid rid of the real hummer and keep the two @!#$boxes
Wonder if the military will get a new vehicle then, its a shame i guess, saw tons of those overseas.

Im guessing that means there still gunna make them for the military
The Military one is still being produced, but once the war is done that will go down too, it's just a matter of time till the whole plant shuts down. I have a lot of friends and family members that work for both H1 and H2, it's going to be a damn shame when they stop. They have 2 "proving grounds" around here that will still be open though, it's where they teach the purchasers of these trucks how to really drive them. The one at the plant is fairly small, but fun (I got the chance to go on it a couple summers ago), the one off sight is huge though and quite difficult from what I hear. I hope they keep those open.
This sucks, because now the price of the used ones will probably go up. I was really looking forward to buying a used on in a few years. Hopefully they stay at a decent price.
if you want a status symbol buy a Ferrari not that ugly heap of @!#$
you couldnt pay me enough money drive one of those, good riddance

I don't have a problem with H1... it's a Diesel, and you can use numerous different kinds of fuels that produce soot mainly as their chief by-product. On top of that, you're buying a vehicle that is extremely capable... This is the same kind of thing as buying a land rover. They're not my cup of tea, but they're not the worst thing on the road.
H2: Needs a diesel engine, and an OD gear, and a diet.
H3: Needs a diet, and a diesel.
They're not the best vehicles, but they have enough of a market that they sell. The H1 is a great off-roader, if anyone would actually TAKE THEM OFFROAD.

Damn that sucks. Hopefully I can find a decent used one when the day I can afford one finally comes.
