A few months ago, my dad bought an '86 Fiero GT. He had been watching it on CraigsList for a while, as the price slowly dropped. Once it hit $500, he scooped it up.
It was in immaculate condition. It only has 98,000 miles, and my dad is like the 4th owner. The only problem is the fact that the 2.8 V6 had a rod knock (common with there cars). Besides that the paint, interior, moldings, and everything else is in great condition. If you walked up and looked at it, you wouldn't think it was more than 3 or 4 years old; certainly not anywhere near 20. Anyways, he tore down the engine, ordered a new long block, and swapped all the necessary stuff a couple weekends ago. Then he finished hooking up all the wires/hoses/etc this weekend, and fired it up this morning. Started on the first try! Runs and drives great, except that it idles a little rough (engine needs to be broken in, timing needs to be set better). Anyways, he has a total of only like $3000 into it (in it's current condition, it's worth well over twice that), and it's on the road again just in time for summer.
Anyways, onto the pics:
My dad and the car, rear deck still off. This was after the first trip around the neighborhood.
Interior, spotless and no signs of fading. Console is out to get at the computer.
Engine, repainted upper manifold and added red distributor cap/wires and an Optima RedTop.
Deck and wing on. The black/white/grey scheme flows so beautifully over the car, it looks 100x better in real life.
Side shot, notice the original wheels.
Front shot from the garage. You can see our Ion and my Sunfire in the background. The truck is Scott's, a friend from my dad's work who lent us the engine stand/cherry picker.
Rear angle shot. Notice the "Special Purpose" plates. One of the reasons for the low mileage, a previous owner used the car as a parade ride or something similar, with limited miles as a requirement.
