Narrowed it down, Now help me decide!!!
Friday, May 05, 2006 11:16 AM
OK i have my EVO 8 for sale right now, and i think i have narrowed it down to about 4 cars in what to get as my next vehicle, i just wanted soem input as to what everyone else would do.

- OK here is one go for some more luxury, and get a used Escelade EXT (truck) in white, and put a nice set of rims, and stereo/ DVD package in it, and call it good

- But a used BMW M3, 2002-2005, around 35K, in any color and just leave it as is, maybe throw a chip in it, but just cruise around in luxury and speed.

- Ok i may get flamed for this one, but a used civic, and just throw a ton of cash at it and make it a sleeper. (flame away on this one guys but its still an option)

- Wait for the EVO X to come out, and get that (i really do love my EVO, and will miss it when it goes) the EVO IX really pisses me off, with the minimal amount of mods you can put at it, anda it will be in the high 11's, all you need is a TB exhaust, Boost controller, and a tune, and run 11.8's all day on 93 octane(depending where you are altitude wise)

or just buy a new R6, and save money on a car and drive my everyday driver around (93 Ford Tempo) until it dies.

Lets see what everyone has to say, thanks

~Matt

I heard evo's are insanely quick but turbo lag sucks. All depends on what you're goin for. Speed, luxury, daily driver... or a combination.
For the combination, I'd go with a new camry... mind you, I'm hooked ever since my 1990 Camry LE V6. now they're pushing almost 300hp, got a luxury setup, AND are supposed to be extremely reliable.

in my EVO i am at full boost before 3K RPM's i have no lag at all, unless i get a 35R or bigger turbo then there is lag, but i am good where i am at.

i know thats where i am stuck, as of right now i am leaning towards the M3 (for now) but i have as much time as i want to get a car, but i don't know how long i can drive my Tempo all the time, i may need some kind of change, like the M3, save up about half to put down on it, and payments would be nice and low ya know, i could easily save that much in less than a year

If I'd had more cars, or driven more, I'd be able to make a recommendation, I've only driven 8 cars, 5 of my own, 2 dealerships and my brother's, they are:
1982 Chevrolet Cavalier hatchback (with a 3 banger lol)
1989 Chevrolet Cavalier Z24 convertible (I wanna buy it back)
1983 Honda CRX w/ B16A motor swap (totalled ... bad mechanic -_-)
1990 Toyota Camry LE V6 (my 2nd favourite car... motor siezed up)
Current: 1985 Mazda 626 LX (wires keep falling off... )

Dealers: 2006 Ford Fusion (loved that car, good power, awesome handling)
2005 Ford Mustang V6 (not too bad, bad handling, motor was beefy)

MY brother's: 1995 Chrysler Intrepid... nice car, reliable, and huuuuuge

All depends on what you want to go with.

It's impossible to rate a truck with an M3. A TL with an M3. And so on and so forth.

What are you looking for? Performance? Reliability? ect.ect.ect....

My mom had a TL and I loved that thing. The new IS350 is well over 40 grand.

If it were me, I'd pick up the M3. Nothing like German quality and performance in one package.

I'd get the TL.

You seem very, very, confused.

Setting yourself up for disappointment regardless of which car you purchase.

It's already out. Has been for a little while. That's what I'd do if I could buy a $30-40k car. Charger R/T all the way. Gotta love the Hemi!!

Why the hell is that funny? Everyone I know that has, or had, a BMW has had no problems whatsoever with them. I don't see the problem??

Explain

And he said to keep it under 40 grand. An IS350 is well over 40 grand.

Most base lexus's and even some of the high end ones are so much like their Toyota brother it's not even funny. I'd also never buy that escalade. It is the exact same at the chevy avalance except it's all painted. If your leaning towards a used escalade EXT, get a brand new avalance and still save money.

M3 in Laguna Seca Blue....... leave it alone..... Polish the stock spider rims if they aren't already but nothing else... pure sex......

There is no other car on earth that flows this well compeltely stock, and it looks 3x better with the stock rims polished.

I agree i am leaning towards the M3. i am seriously confused, as far as the EVO 8 being for sale, there is nothing wrong with it, i honestly want something new, and am sick of spending money on making it faster, its right now in the mid- 12's, but it just seems so slow to me. LOL, i am no longer leaning towards the Escelade, pretty much the M3 or a used Silverado. And then buy a house.

I know i am seriously confused, and yes this is one of the most expensive hobbies that i know of. The IS350 is pretty much 40 right on the head for everything that i want, it is cutting it close, but its a nice car

The term "German quality" is oxymoron unless you finish the statement that their "German quality"-- is horible. I could care less on what "everybody that owns" as you say, I have expiriance with Benz for a little over 5 years (in the that course seeing maybe hundreds of cases) and co-workers that worked with BMWs as well and we can all attest your so called "German quality" is not something to be proud of.

And another thing just so you know... the Lexus IS350 starts at $36K, last time I checked---so $36K is under $40K.

Now do you see as to why I on the your statement I put in bold?
