ok, my dad has a 99 Astro 4.3v6 auto trans with 116k miles on it and he wants to put in a new tranny filter and flush. the van has never had one before and im worried that the new fluid is going to destory the clutch packs on it. has any done one on a s-10 or a blazer with a autotrans and not had any problems with it after that many miles? please i need an answer quickly. my father is a little hard headed when it comes to stuff like this so i want to take him to a few tranny shops so they can tell him the same thing.

well in most cases yes at that milage you don't want to change the filter/fluid because the old fluid has already wore itself in the clutches/gears (if that makes sence) now if the fluid isn't to brown and smells burnt I'd say go ahead and do it. but normally they recommend changing it every 30k or so.

**changes are here**
