finally dropped the hhr.

i know allot of u hate the hhr, i wasnt sure about it when we got it as our "family" vehicle. but its really growing on me as a good drive around type car.well i finally got around to getting some goldline springs and dropping it. was surprised how low its sitting, im just wondering how long the struts will last sitting this low lol. was a pretty basic install. took me about 3 hours to do. did half of it myself and it can be a bit hard to hold a strut assembly under the car with your other hand above the car to put the bolts in lol. the pics suck cause it was getting dark out and the car is pretty dirty, hopefully this weekend will be nice so i can get it washed, it just seems to be storming here in indiana about every third day lately. ive also tooken off all the pinstriping dealer tags and gm badges, added the grill on top and bottom, and tinted the windows.

I love the HHRs. Real good looking car. Looks even better lowered. I'm not feeling the grille, either, but if like it, then cool.

Any plans for any other mods?

you know... it needs eyelids. I think that would look really good.
and some nice black rims with a polished lip.

I wasn't really sure about the HHR when it first came out but it has grown on me. Much better looking than the PT cruiser IMO.

Is it just me or do the HHR taillights look like the same part number as 2-door cobalt taillights?

huh? thats on stock struts? can the hhr's struts handle the drop? i heard that some cars can be dropped without needing new struts, this is why I ask.

Hhr's struts should be able to handle that since they can handle a decent excess load on top of what they weigh.

But it is GM we're talking about here!

Does yours have the 2.2 or the 2.4? I haven't had a chance to drive one yet. I'm still trying to talk the wife into it. We'll see. If even the 2.4 is as gutless as I heard then I wont buy it. I dont have to have a fast family car, but I dont want to be affraid to merge into traffic because I can't get out of my own way.

x3

maybe black out the chrome too. It just looks out of place for some reason. The trim would look better body color. IMO

awesome man, thats what i want for a daily driver. I test drove one and was sold on it

i like the billet grille the stock grille was a cheap plastic looking thing so i had to ditch it.

as for the struts, they are gm so im assuming they are going to go out on me. hopefully i get a year out of them and hopefully some company comes out with some quality aftermarket struts.

i have the 2.4 we test drove the 2.2 and it wasnt enough at all. if didnt feel like it had any power at all. the 2.4 is much nicer

doubt i'll do eyelids, this is just our daily driver and im trying not to stick to much money into it.

i dont much care for the chrome mirros and handles. the lower version has like a brushed aluminum style that i think looks much smoother, but it seemed every hhr we found had the dealer upgrad to chrome. hopefully hoping to find an hhr owner with the brushed aluminum that wants to stop.

the ride is allot better then i thought. i expected it to be harsher for a 2" drop but it's not much worse a ride compared to stock. i was really happy with how well it rides, just want to try and get a strut bar for it.
