Beater wont start?

I have an 85 mazda 626 LX by the way..... Went out to the car this morning to go pick up our new kitten and the car wouldnt start. Couldnt even hear it trying to turn over, just the click from the relay. My roommate and I went out to the car yesterday to switch the spare to the real tire (which was still good oddly :S) and I wanted to upgrade the 'big 3' because the electrical system died on me for a second for no reason one night (the motor kept running though) I replaced all the wires after I decided I didnt have the tools for the job (have plenty of wire) in the exact same way they were before I tried.

If needed, I'll take pics, but there's what looks like a small motor underneath the alt. Whenever we try to start the car, we hear nothing but the relay, outside when we release the key, what looks like a small flywheel on the motor described above releases the pulley (when we turn the key, the "flywheel" clamps down on it).
We cant figure out whats going on, no lights even dim a little bit, the battery is fully charged (all windows and the sunroof work to full power).

We asked for a boost, and he tested the circuits, he clamped one end of a booster cable to the + battery, and the other to the -, and tapped the + on the motor. Only when he struck it repetitively and fairly hard would it make a spark, and not a very big one. I think it may be a bad ground.

thats what we think. But the trans was also slipping pretty badly the last time I drove it, so I think it may be stuck in something other than park, because as you know, cars wont start unless its in P or N

U can use a hammer to tap the starter or arch it with metal like a screw driver and it should start.U probably have a worn out starter for the most part.IF there is a dead spot on the cylinoid meaning no electrical power the car would never start or the armetuer inside is stuck .I would just replace the starter as long as u said the bat is good meaning the alter is charging but,the starter is bad.U can always go to auto zone or advance and they can do a check for free, just to indicate is the starter is the original its dead.Ok I 'd buy a new starter.
