Record check a little iffy

Well, I've been eyeing up this car for a few days now, and I really like it alot. So, I went and bought a record check from Ebay, and as I was reading through, I noticed this section looked a little weird:

Report Run Date: 04/05/2006
VIN: 1FAFP68G7YK126100 2000 Ford Contour SVT

Event Date Event Location Odometer Reading Data Source Event Detail
06/16/2000 ELKRIDGE, MD 8 Motor Vehicle Dept. TITLE (Title #:29743581)
REGISTRATION EVENT/RENEWAL (Lien Reported)
02/26/2001 COLUMBIA, MD 7,216 Motor Vehicle Dept. TITLE (Title #:30561273)

10/29/2003 FORT GEORGE G MEADE, MD 36,353 Motor Vehicle Dept. TITLE (Title #:33571347)
REGISTRATION EVENT/RENEWAL (Lien Reported)
03/09/2005 HAMPTON, VA Motor Vehicle Dept. REGISTRATION EVENT/RENEWAL
02/27/2006 FL 64,790 Motor Vehicle Dept. ODOMETER READING FROM DMV
03/07/2006 FL Motor Vehicle Dept. TITLE (Title #:0095333084)
03/09/2006 FL 64,790 Auto Auction REPORTED AT AUTO AUCTION
03/15/2006 FL 64,790 Auto Auction AUCTION ANNOUNCED AS FLEET/LEASE

now, maybe I'm just a little paranoid, but isn't 7,000 miles a little low to be at an auction? It said that the title was clear, so I don't know. If anyone else has insight on this, let me hear it. Thanks all

I don't think that's odd. A lot of dealerships (especially smaller independant ones) will sell off used cars at auction if they've been sitting on the lot too long. Sometimes you just don't have the market for a certain car, and auctions are an easier way to sell a car. Plus, I know a few guys who own used car lots who prefer to sell certain types of cars at auciton as they feel it can sell higher...

I would get a Carfax report, too, if you're not sure about it...

^^^ I bet he is right. Probbaly a repo. That seems like a car a person would get that would be repod, probably a kid that got in over his head. That being said, you may wanna really look into the car to make sure it wasnt beat all to hell

Yeah, it even says on the third line down in parentheses that a lien was reported, which means it was probably repo'd for non-payment.

I agree with what's been said so far too. I wouldn't worry much about the report. It really does sound like a repo to me. (Working in banking/finance, I've seen a bunch of cars turn out with that same kind of report.)

I'm not a big Ford fan at all, but that SVT does look pretty clean. I like the color. I'd loose the pinstripping, debadge it and get the front plate holder off ASAP (since you obviously don't need one in PA) to start with. But that's just me.

A friend of mine had nothing with problems with his SVT. It had about 60k when he traded it at my dealership. So he traded for a Hemi Ram... then later traded the Ram for WRX STi... I hate him

Lien Reported doesn't mean it was repo'd. Lien Reported is part of the detail from the line above it. It means that a lien was taken out to purchase the car and the lien holder was reported to the DMV.

If its not repoed I would assume that someone bought it from the auction and then sold it to the person who he really bought it for.....
