Will probably be sold as an MX3 within the next 3 years. 2.0 litre 4cylinder with rwd. Should be lightweight, good mileage and handling. I hoping. Don't care for convertibles so I can't buy a Solstice or Sky but I could buy this Mazda.

I was just looking at that article the other day at my local magazine store. Interesting car. I don't really care for it though.

Have a good one,
Justin

Where are you getting this information. Mx-3? nothing in common with that car. It says wight in the article that it will "most likely be called RX-7, a legendary name that the Japanese manufacturer very much wants to bring back".
I like the lines, but it needs some different front end/headlight/grill treatment.

I don't like the looks of it at all.. I think the Sky looks a lot better than that.

1 - they will never resurrect the RX7 name.
2 - it's not a true RX7 if it LACKS A ROTARY MOTOR.

don't be silly.

I can see them res-eruct the RX7 name.. They know it'll sell. I'm betting it won't even have a rotary engine in it either.

they've been trying to keep the rumor alive sincethey killed it. it won't happen.

even if it DOES come back, it'll be so late that it'll barely sell - much like the ressurection of the tbird. it just won't have the staying power they might hope for.

that's my prediction, anyway.

The article is wrong, they can not call it an RX7 because it does not have a rotary engine. Another magazine said it would be called an MX3. Personally that would sound alot like mazda3, so if I were them, I would call it an MX4. The Sky does look better but is impractical, no room, cost more and a convertible. Did you notice the rear seats have quite a bit of room? No trunk or hatch on the prototype, it has a door behind the passenger door that goes straight back in to the body to allow acces to the rear seat area and the seats fold down.

It's sooo ugly I'd never consider it. It's like a Mazda3, decent car, but so unforgivably ugly I could never buy one.

Actually if i'm not mistaken, weren't the JDM MX3's of yore called Kabura's? Maybe i just pulled that out of my ass but it sounded familiar for some reason.

I think its a good looking car, the WHEELS are hideous, but a 2.3L engine with a WEALTH of COSWORTH parts available, all hooked to a lightweight RWD coupe, is VERY enticing indeed.... another car to add to my Automotive A.D.D. List....

glad to see someone else agrees with me.

now, on a positive note - if they DO resurrect the 7, it'll have the renesis motor. while it might not be fast, it's the most reliable rotary so far. i honestly wonder if they'll consider turboing it...

No, directly out of ass, AZ-3 it was called. I'm with you though, i think it woiuld be a cool, fun car. the market really needs some sub 20K RWD coupes. Mazda build them and people will come!

On second thought the name MX-3 would fit into the naming scheme: 3, 5, 6, Cx-7,
Rx-8, Mx-5. I would call it Vx-3, just to Fack people up.

i find that statement amusing...because the 13B and 12A didn't have issues with blown seals like the 13BTT did...
