hey guys, let me give you a little background before i get to the pictures. my mother-in-law's boyfriend has a car towing business. he tows all kinds of cars for all kinds of people. one of the people he tows for is the owner of a porsche racing club called 911Design. this guy invited my mother-in-law and her boyfriend to an event out here in Fontana, CA at California Speedway. they scored my wife and i some tickets.

i've always been involved in drag racing, but this was something else. i dug the racing. but basically its a bunch of spoiled rich guys with nothing else to do with their money. it costs 200 bucks a car to race. the guy who owns the team had 14 cars at the event. they race for bragging rights only. no payback, no trophies, just fun. they rent out the track and just go play for 3 days.

here's the pics of the cars i took. i have a lot of track picks too but you can't make out the cars and stuff so i'll just post the off track pictures...








they also had a class for cars that weren't porsche..."experimental class" is that they called it...





and then, of course, there's always low budget racers at any type of racing...



yes, thats a 5th wheel mounted to the back of a semi truck. the 5th wheel hung out about 8 feet off the back so they welded up a brace that went from the back of the semi to the back of the trailer...i can't imagine how thats legal. on top of it, the back of the 5th wheel had a trailer hitch and they pulled a 40 foot race trailer behind it...genious!!

and then this car is just cool...

I think roadracing is so much more interesting then drag racing...the better you get at drag racing the less rush you get......a fast car still gives you 20-40 minutes of pure bliss

the audi was one of my favorites. and the corvette z06 was one of 4 that i saw at the event. lots of awesome cars. i'm going back again in the summer for a tribute to lemans race. its a 4 hour enduro run that this team will be attending. its good to know people who know people...

road racing is cool. only problem is you can't see the whole track. we had seats in the middle of the track on top of the press boxes. there wasn't any seating around the road coarse. so basically we watched them come down the front straightaway of the oval, counted to 130 and then watched them come by again. it was kinda boring. i'd rather watch road racing on TV.

i like the new cayman (two silver cars---car on right is cayman S) but something about the rear body line made me not too sure about it.

porsche definately knows how to make some sexy cars though.
