Newbie here...!
I just got this 2004 Malibu, I know not a Cavi but sure most would apply the same and I am sure we both share the excitement of spirited driving of our Chevs.
I am just starting to play around a little and Mod a bit. I have installed a Weapon R intake and have a PS 4 to 1 coated header, Dynatech free flow converter and Magnaflow Street Per. muffler waiting for me to install them.
Anyhow my question, when doing spirited driving (often) is it bad to allow the engine to turn up until the transmission changes gear. This is approx. 6300 ish. Is this RPM too high for this engine's stock internals especially valve train?
On a different note the Weapon R intake sounds awesome, gains I can not really tell if there is much for gains. The sound of the engine especially above 5,000 sure makes it seem like there would be gains. I look forward to feeling the difference after installing the above mentioned.
Well all I have I have visited this site a few times and have found it informattive and look forward to becoming a regular after some acquainting.
No the redline is set around 6250 for a reason, GM has tested the engine to be reliable up to that point. So its perfectly safe for you to take your engine to that point.
true but its not something you should be doing all the time
