My wife has an Acura Integra LS. It is a 2000 5speed. I hardly drive it at all(every time i drive a standard, i get speeding tickets) She said for the past few weeks the Check Engine Light stays on after she starts the car and flashes. after a few seconds it goes away. My question is, is this normal, or is it not supposed to do that on start up? like i said, i don't drive it, so i don't know if it has been doing it since she bought it or if it's new. if it's not normal, I'll stop by the dealership i work at p/t and use their scan tool this weekend. anytime before just isn't possible. Thanks.
Read ur owners manual and see if this is a normal issue. Most cars only show the cel on start up then it goes off once running.I am guessing it maybe something else besides a normal start up and running condition.Checking the ecm for codes want hurt and auto zone will do it anytime for FREE,if u can swing into one b4 u do the pt thing.
great info on the integra forum. maybe i'll join just for help with my wife's car. It'll never be modified
the only after market thing on it is a second set of wheels (steel) with winter tires and a pioneer deck. I'm not allowed near it unless it needs help
just checked it. it is the "maintenance required" light that flashes. Check engine light isn't the culprit. the MR light flashs 10 times then shuts off. sorry for the mixed message earlier. Again, i don't drive the car. I'm going to go through the owners manual and see if there is anything on that flashing. Thanks again.
looks like maybe i didn't reset the that indicator when i did her oil change last.
owners manual on the indicator:
*For the first 6,000 miles after the maintenance required indicator is reset, it will come on for two seconds when you turn the ignition switch ON
*Between 6,000 miles and 7,500 miles this indicator will light for two seconds when you first turn the ignition switch ON, and then flash for ten seconds
*If you exceed 7,500 miles without having the scheduled maintenance performed, this indicator will remain on as a constant reminder
I can't say this post was a waste, i now know how to diag the actual CEL. Thanks for all the help again. I'll reset it on the next oil change
