ive heard 350z's dont handle well in the bad weather. is this true and what makes them this way compared to other rear wheel drive cars? thanks

Ya know man i cant give ya a reason but after almost buying a 350z and still considering it, i have spent about a year on the z forums...and everyone says bad weather driving is a no no. I dont know if they just cant drive or what...but no owner recomends it
yea i dont understand how it can be so much different from any other car......snow and ice i can understand, any car can b crap in that stuff.....only thing im worried about is rain. is it THAT bad in the rain?

REASON:
Other RWD cars generally do suck in the snow/ice compared to fwd / awd cars. However a RWD car with thin snow tires doesnt do that bad.
The problem with the Z, as well as a Camaro SS / mustang cobra type car is they have thin profile very wide tires, which are not suited to digging into adverse road surfaces. They are also up on power which makes it even more difficult.

are their tires suited for rain atleast? im very close to getting a 350z, i live in new jersey, we can have great summers, usually droughts so rain isnt a big factor but the winter can be a pain in the butt during which i would put on snow tires and only drive when i absolutely had to but this "not a great handler in bad weather" is making me a little shakey

Have a bad weather beater.
Its not that bad. I drove my fathers for a long time. In the rain, go easy on the gas and dont punch it around the turns. Dont drive in snow. I never tried it, but just think about it. I never thought it did bad at all. If anything look into different tires if its a big concern.

any RWD car with snow tires is fine... we drive the Trans am all year and its dynoing over 400hp... just go easy on the gas..... ahah note i also live in Canada where we can wake up to 2+ feet of snow on a give day...

blue car (R.I.P) - 240whp @7psi..
silver car - 305whp 315lbs.tq @15psi (91 Octane) or 420whp & 425lbs.TQ @20psi (94 octane+Alcohol Injection)
All dynos run on a Mustang dyno
I have a 4wd truck for just this reason... the GTO doesn't like the snow... I drove it in snow once this past winter (it was supposed to be clear, but then snowed like 6" when I was at work), and everytime I upshifted or downshifted, the back end got squirrly.

im pretty sure there arent very many rwd vehicles that can handle good in bad weather anyways.
rwd+wide sports tires+agressive gears= bad in anything but sunshine.

i talked to a guy that comes into the place i work at that has a 350z convertable and drove it all winter in buffalo. he has blizzacks on it and today i asked him how it was and he said it had better grip in snow and ice than his highlander. he also said the blizzacks were 350 per tire in the stock size, but for him thats nothing i guess. its manual btw. i can't imagine a rwd car is much worse than my rwd pickup except for the gearing and power. i can drive in 2wd all the time if i have to i just have to watch what the hell im doing. my father always drove ss chevys up until the early 70's and he said its amazing people survived those times with no abs, trac control or anything like that(sarcasm)
women are like cars you have to test drive the new one before you trade in the old one
My Wife can drive her 450hp Camaro in the winter i think you can handle it.
My Buick Turbo Regal also gets driven year round .no problems in the snow. You just got to know how to drive.
I don't need no stinking SIG. Wait this is one.
DOH!
^^I don't just drive it because I don't want to do something wrong and mess it up.... I also don't trust other drivers in the snow. I would be so pissed if somebody hit me and messed up my car. It's such a hassle to get it fixed.

a long time ago you could get chains on the tires and not worry about anything
now with the low sitting cars with low profile tires , there is no room for chains
plus the wider the tire in snow , makes it harder to drive with out loosing control
i agree with the others , get or keep a car for a bad weather beater
are there thinner tires you can get that are good in the snow for like 100 bucks each or are they usually pretty expensive?

Dont get all crazy and you will be fine. Also leave the VDC on when its raining. I drive mine when its raining out and its ok.

Short wheelbase,RWD, and horsepower equals sideways. Personally I like it, do you like drifting?
