Well am not sure what I want to do. I currently own a 01 z24 with a GM supercharger but I really like the 06 Cobalt SS i just wanted to know what everyone thinks about them. hows the performance? how durable is the 2.0 ecotec? I also am very curious to know if GM has future plans for the SS cobalt? i heard maybe them using the 2.4 vvt engine and supercharging it for the 07's any input would be nice im thinking bout purchasing within a week or 2 thanks
Try looking on www.cobaltss.net, you might get better info/help there.
it a hot ride.. handles decent, power is all there.... quality is still no better than the cavalier. my buddy had an '05 ss/sc for around 6-7,000 miles an then he traded it in..... it was cool, cept 1. could never get traction, 2. interior plastics were falling apart..... its a cool car if u only plan to keep it a couple years, just gunna be another cavalier/sunfire deal..... stock vs. cavalier with gm s/c= dead even until 4th gear, cobalt starts to pull...

gettin blown jus wasn't good enuff.. snailed @ 6psi
coolest thing ive found so far for the cobalt ss supercharged is the intense motorsports kit which bumps the stock power from 200 or whatever to 270 at the wheels... thats ofcourse with supporting mods like I/H/E

drive one from 5miles to 7000 miles on the odometer and tell me its any different from a cavalier with the same mileage..... pioneer system sucked, bad rattles in the back, plastic trims on doors both faded, one broke off.. put a cone filter on it and you get a check engine light? give me a break.... buy a wrx or a mk5 gti and throw a chip on it.. even better, get a TC or civic SI an put a greddy bolt-on turbo kit on it... dont waste ur money on the cobalt.. u'll smoke the cobalt with any of those.. not to mention, TON more aftermarket..

i can beat the ss/sc with my cav now
but they do ride a WHOLE lot better
the only thing i hate with the cobalts is the DRIVE BY WIRE
other than that i like the car
I personally liked it when i took one out....id say go for it
the interior was falling apart? it has a 36000 mile warranty pretty sure it covers that i have heard nothing but great things about them and the engine was rated the in the top ten for the best engines of 2006 and yes ill take a domestic too! those GTI's look good from the front other than that they are a little bubble and the civic si's......they look good but.....its a honda anyone know if they are gonna improve the peformance of the cobalt in 07 or soon?

dude your friend must have not cared for that car very well. Quality no better than a cav? Sounds good to me. I've had mine for almost 6 years and my interior is in pristine condition. The only rattle I've ever had was the glove compartment latch, but that was easy to fix.
I will agree that you can get better for the price though.

2. interior plastics were falling apart.....
^^^^^ Amen to that, at the car show, sat in a coablt SS and BAM you touched a part and it would fall apart....
I say you wait for the Mazdaspeed 3 to come out.

The Cobalt is a solid car... The interior plastics in the 05's were very easily scratched and have been replaced with higher quality parts. It handles a lot better than the cavalier and is pretty quick. It has a lot better fit and finish than the Cavalier as well. the traction isn't very good unless you have the G85 performance package and with that you also get the much nicer recaro seats. The Pioneer system isn't as good as an aftermarket system but is pretty decent for factory.
Also there is a good chance that in 2008 the engine will probably be some form of the vvt 2.0 turbo from the solstice gxp.
my next car will be a cobalt SS or a G5. dont matter what motor to me. i like both of them alot and everyone i no who has a cobalt loves them. dont matter to me what people say about them i dont like that many import companys so im sticking with the GM cars. i do think its a step up from the cavalier and sunfire.
In your profile it says you're a car salesman. What brand(s) do you sell? If Chevrolet is one of them, you could probably work out a pretty sweet deal on a Cobalt if you chose to go that route. I say go with whatever ya like though.
By the Cobalt SS and sell me your charger for cheap....
cobalts are gay.
Sorry.....

Ion Redline is a little less expensive, handles better, and has the half doors for getting in the back seat. Don't buy a GTI, VW is one of the worst car brands on the road for reliability.
Yeaaah, go for the Saturn Ion redline instead.
