TT 3.2
Thursday, March 02, 2006 8:45 PM
Hey everbody, So my plans are to buy a stock turbo 3.1 and drive it around in my car for a while then when next winter comes along have it rebuilt and bored out to increase dispacement to 3.2, get two rebuild turbo chargers running 12 psi each and have custom true duals constructed, now I no I'll have 2 do some custom plumbing but doe's anyone see any problems with having it twin turboed, When I get my rebuilt it will be reiceiving forged internals and preety much performance everthing. Also I was wondering if I will be able to increase the dispalcement to 3.2 without having to stroke it??anyways it shuld all fit under the fiero and it shuld fly any comments or suggestions welcomed.

yeah, me too....

if you have a J, why did you post this in "other cars"? as to the rest of your post..... no, you're caught up in silly foolishness and it wouldn't be a good idea unless you have a buttload of money and in that case i doubt you'd still be driving a J... most cost effective solution for a sunbird would be to swap to a 3400 (they're common on ebay for $500) and then put a well-matched single turbo on that...

He has a 2.5L (Iron Duke) Fiero. He is planning on buying a Turbo Sunbird, driving it for a while, then stealing the engine out, building it, and putting it into his Fiero.

Problems:
-There is no stock turbo 3.1. It's either a Turbo 2.0L I4, or a NA 3.1L V6.
-Why go through all the trouble to rebuild/swap one of these engines, when there are sooooo many easier/cheaper/better gains swaps out there?

grand prix TGP had a turbo 3.1, just VERY difficult to find these days. but it came with a T25 which is ridiculous because that turbo's too small on a 2.2, much less a 3.1.

Ah, reading back i see now where he said fiero... missed it before and assumed sunbird cuz of his name. Anyway, there's no f-ing way you're fitting twin turbos under the rear deck of a fiero.... or at least from the fieros i've seen it sure as hell isn't worth the trouble. 3800 SC or 3400 turbo, whatever, but sticking with the 3.1 is kinda not the greatest idea.

thnx so far but I think i'm still gunna be able to do it reasonaably cheap and I've seen a few turbo 3.1's know I just need money. I figure if a 3.8s/c can fit in a twin turbo shuld be reasonble and I don't want a 3.4 because im weird and want a 3.2 turbo with a 5speed
anybody know if theres a good turbo upgrade?

They came with a T28. There are two GPTs for sale in my area right now but I forgot how much each was asking. Everything you will do will have to be custom made. You're 17 and you want to be a mechanic.. I'll take it that you aren't a mechanic and your current job is nothing more notable than wanting to be something else. Honestly.. it takes thousands of dollars to build a motor and a lot of skill/experience unless you pay even more for someone else to do it. A twin turbo set-up also take a lot of fabrication abilities which I doubt you have.
Think smaller and be more reasonable. Even if you have a decent job, trying to do all of this would mean you spend every penny you own "and some you don't" to get it done.. which isn't cool.

I said t25 because the 3 sites I have seen it on said it was t25(v6z24,ebay,some grand am owners club) I know they'll be custom work involved and I don't even have a job,(enough hard earned cash tho) at present and have figured it out 2 a rough ball park estimate which is in my price range. I know several mechanics including the top one in my area who has been building hotrods since before either of us was a gleam in our fathers eye. His 69 dodge dart runs mid 10's in the 1/4 9's this year. N e ways I'm reasonably well mechanicly inclined and have the resources/capabilities. Do u know if there are any bigger turbo's that will work on this engine if not how high can the psi go on the t 28 or w/e it is?? Thnks Jamie

You seem like you don;t know much about turbos or how they work. You should read, ALOT. Read all you can, then think about turboing your car, only then.

Read Maximum Boost by Corky Bell. I say you don't seem like you know much by some of the questions you ask and some of the statements you've made. Maybe I'm totally wrong, but you dont put yourself off as very knowledgable.

Link to buy Maximum Boost......................
