Just wondering.....................everyone upgrades to a better car from the J..................what did you go with and why?

My Prelude. I bought it because it was faster, handled better, and i loved the look. Plus I wanted something that wasnt gonna break every couple weeks. I do miss my J from time to time though. Air ride was soo much fun.

I bought an additional car, didn't get rid of the Sunfire.
I needed something bigger with AWD to get around easily in snow, I got a Subaru Legacy Outback. It also came with a lot of perks that J's don't have, like heated seats, heated mirrors, heated windshield under the wipers, height adjustable driver's seat, seats that are more comfortable for long-distance driving, a roof rack & overall more space that makes it comfortable for passengers. It also has 15 hp more, so even though it's about 400 pounds heavier, it can still move for it's size. At the same age as my Sunfire, it's worth about $3000 more, even with 20,000 more miles.
Two Sunfires in the family didn't cut it for everything we needed to do. It's definately an upgrade, but it's a way more expensive vehicle too, which means it should be an upgrade.
i traded my J in for a Grand prix. the cavie had some problems that we just couldnt figure out (pretty sure now it was a combination clogged cat and messed injectors). i just got sick of it dying all the time. went on the car hunt, saw this beast and had to have it. and i've never felt any regret

it's not how fast you go, it's how you get there that counts.
ZZP XP cam, 1.6 rockers, 105# springs, speedbuilt FWI, 3.3" modular pulley, TOG headers,
3" exhaust, flomatched injectors
'97 GTP 14.06@100.6mph pre cam w/ 3.5" pulley, I/E
Got tired of my J breaking down all the time, and watching it rust to pieces. Was going to go to the Honda dealership, because our chev dealership sucks! I hate them so much. The local Saturn dealership caught my eye. Loved the Ion cause it looked different, and the polymer panels are pretty cool. If it wasn't for Saturn, I wouldn't have bought another GM vehicle, ever.

03' Toyota Celica
Honestly..I couldnt stand going down the street and listening to my car slowly rattle apart.
Plus, I just wanted something new
Didn't replace...still have the Cavy but bought an 2006 Saab Aero. I love my Cavy but I needed something with more room and bit more practical than a modified Cavalier!
It's a 4-door also which helps with the kids. I didn't settle though as I opted for the Aero model with the 2.8 turbo, 6-speed and all options! I really love this Saab...such a dream to drive with power to spare and the comfort level of this thing is unreal!! I'd say it's the best car I've ever owned hands down!!
Oh yeah...before you start hating on my for saying "best car"...I did test drive the BMW330i and bought the Saab instead...it was simply a better car in my opinion!
Eh...old man with a Corvette now...it was bound to happen sooner rather than later right?
Nice car.

Well, right now im selling my car and the other beater cavy for a GTP, so yeah, im upgrading
I still have my 02 ls sport but I bought an 96 formula convertible to replace it. It has twice the hp but also rattles twice as much.
They'll probably both be replaced by summer time...
I upgraded to A 5.0 V8 AWD Explorer fully loaded. Needed more room and practicality for my daughter. Now I also purchased a 1991 Z28 Camaro thats in my sig. Its been my favorite car so far.

You have what we like to call F-body fever.
And oddly enough, i've never had a J... ever. I'm not sure why i'm really on this site but I am. I had a Corsica before that was a P.O.S. that broke down and overheated so many times I honestly forgot.
My Camaro has never left me stranded except for when the fuel pump went out. This is an extremely reliable and fun car considering its age. I wish GM still built cars like this.

Anything was an upgrade from my 1996 Z24. Thing was just a pile.
I went to a 1999 Jeep Cherokee, which I totalled in 3 months.
Then on to the current two.
2001 Grand Am GT
1999 Trans Am WS.6

Sounds like this....when it had the LS1...
Currently under the knife. Transplant surgery.
My cavalier died on me over the winter. With only 55,000 miles on it too. I went out and bought a 2004 Dodge SRT-4. Sure, its a neon, but its a quick little neon.

I went to my Mustang. I couldn't be happier in all honesty for the money. She's been nothing but good to me.

I upgraded to an 00 formula. Its not that I didn't like the cavalier, its just that it was as far as I wanted to mod it and it was time for something else.
I had a 1997 Sunfire GT and bought a Jeep Liberty for my daily driver, than i got bored of the sunfire and bought a 2003 Mach 1, much MORE power, a better overall ride and the shaker is fun too look at too.
Couldnt be more happy with my decision
Well.....trying to fit 2 car seats and putting my kids in my Z24 was a pain in the arse. We were going to get another SUV, but we didn't want 2 so we bought an 05 Odyssey.
It's easy to get our kids in and out, lots of room, safe(front side airbags, side curtain airbags, VSA, etc), comfortable, and drives really nice.
G/f sold her 97 Sunfire SE coupe outright, and bought a new Civic EX coupe. Drove that for a few years, and then Honda had 2005 closeout deals. Sold the Civic outright, and bought a 2005 Accord LXSE coupe. Better power, looks, and quality than the Civic. 100% better than the Civic. 200% better than the Sunfire.
i bought my sunfire gt for a 2nd car since gas prices went up and a new job so driving in snow for the winter. one day i hope to stop being cheap and buy a trans am ws6 also
1998 Cavalier
1995 Trans Am
1984 Camaro Z28
Got tired of no power and bought a 01' Mustang Bullitt. The sunfire is still here performing winter duties. The fire was good to me but a bare bones car really. It never let me down although it certainly coulda used some FI to wake things up. I'm happy to own my stang, much more fun to drive and more comfortable too.
