i just reciently posted about a blow off valve which kinda screwed the car over because i must of jinxed it well now the car is idleing at 2500 and is buckin when we slow down around 2500. We changed the Mass Air Sensor and wanna no if anyone has any insight on what the problem could be?

become a member to dsmtalk.com. great dsm community. i was and still am a member there for a very long time.

my guess is that it is your b.i.s.s or bass idle set screw. those are known to come out on dsms and they are a quick and easy fix.

Give me the scoop. I'll gladly help you out. I'm not much of a GM guy but I know the 4G63 inside and out.

Sounds like you could have a leaking vacuum hose somewhere or an intake leak someplace. As Kurt said..check up on that idler setting, cuz they can back out from time to time and need readjustment. Now is the problem just at idle..or does it get rough and drive around like @!#$ too?

im a @!#$ pussy ass liar! i lied to my girlfriend over and over, sat around with her friends naked and stayed home downloading porn...she loved me and i hurt her...i deserve to be alone and unhappy...no wonder every girl i try to love leaves me...i suck.

it drives like a champ from 2500 and up once it hits that it starts buckin like a freakin bull...not sure what it could be tho cause how can the idle go in than out again?

TPS? Cam timing? Have you done a tuneup lately? Also, check the ECU. Crack it open and see if any of the capacitors have leaked onto the board. The ECUs for the 4G63 are notorious for that, and it can cause some irratic engine issues that seem to come out of nowhere. It's not necessarily the issue, but it's a likely cause. We just did the ECUs in two of the VR4s not too long ago, and I had the same problem with mine.

id tune the engine cause like johnathon said it could be any of those. sounds like cam timing to me tho.

but also take a gander at that base idle set screw. if you dont know where it is.....

^^ on the throttle body.

and if you ever need a walk-through to ANY installation or maintenance or what not. go to vfaq.com.

hope some of that helps.

A few months before I sold my 2nd gen, it started having idle issues. My coolant temp. sensor had gone bad, no CEL code ever showed either. When that sensor goes, it really makes the car run like a turd.

I would suggest to check all of your vacuum lines,
sounds to me like a vacuum leak.

My 97 Talon did that when I broke a vacuum line.

If it's only an idle problem, it narrows things down a bit; there was an issue that a lot of guys had with the Idle Air Control causing the RPMs to ramp up and down. It's been a while since I've dealt with it, but that was a pretty common issue. And a simple vacuum leak will do the same thing, but as far as running rough under load like yours is, it's hard to say until all the obvious sources are eliminated.

well now today he said his car is running fine. He took it into a shop and they told him the turbo is leaking oil so its on its way out? could this be a problem for it?

Re: Talon Tsi F'in up

If the turbo siezes from lack of oil, it can be bad, yes, because it's kind of hard to run a turbo car with no turbo. I'd pull the turbo and check it, see where it's leaking and if it can be repaired. If it's binding or not spinning freely, get it rebuilt or replace it.

Come to think of it, if the turbo isn't spinning, that could be the source of all the other issues. It's a long shot, but if the turbo binds up and doesn't spin, it will restrict the air flow on both the intake and exhaust, which will choke the motor on both intake and exhaust, which would in theory, cause the engine to run funky and misbehave. It's a long shot but I suppose I can see it happening.

^ nice dsm..

how much $ could someone get for a good used super 16g turbo ? my brother has one for sale.
that would solve that turbo problem if there is one for sure.

(his dsm can be seen here : http://www.cardomain.com/ride/470873/1 )

It varies. I've seen them go for as little as a couple hundred and go up from there, and it sometimes depends on how bad the buyer wants it. Of course it's going to depend on condition and all of that, too. I dropped about $350 for mine.

^^ Keep in mind my build is about 8 years old now and I installed the 16G back in '01 so my price guess might be a bit off.

And BTW, thanks for the compliment, Jake. Unfortunately the engine isn't that clean anymore. It's a mess right now but sitting in a garage with the hood off does that. Some day I'm going to step into modern times and get a digital camera so I can upload some pics. Some day.
