I was at a local ford dealership, and I was asking him if they get in any SVT vehicles? He said that ford might drop the whole line AND they might not produce the shelby cobra. Is this true? Has anybody heard anything about this?

The "Shelby Cobra" concept isn't being put in to production true. It is/was just a concept as of right now...


Now if he meant the "GT500" yes it is being built (which of course is the 5.4 S/C Mustang) There is even supposed to be a vert option in the works and already been tested.


SVT is supposed to come back strong with a new lineup has nothing really currently. And many are doubting the return of cars like the SVT Lightining, SVT Focus, and SVT COBRA. (note new mustang is not a "Cobra" it is a "gt500")

The Shelby GT500 will be in production within the next year. They auctioned off the first production model to be produced at the Barrett Jackson Auction a couple weeks ago for something like $650K, and all the proceeds went to charity. The remainder of the production GT500s are set to have a sticker price in the range of $45K.

as far as i know, SVT is no more. the new GT 500 isnt an SVT car. i think they've got another performance devision not as centered as SVT. im not sure, though.

There has yet to be a official "SVT dept. is shut down press release" or something of that nature. The head of the SVT division keeps saying there will be new models in development soon several people from the SVT division have been working on both the Ford GT, Shelby Cobra Concept, GR1, and of course the GT500.

I haven't heard word of another division in the works as of yet. It was announced recently that the Ford GT will no longer be built, and the Explorer Sport Trac Adrenalin has been cut aswell.

I hope they get busy again it certainly looks bad right now thou. I'd like to see a Focus with a turbo + awd, a Cobra that doesn't sticker for 45k, and a Lightning of course.

it was the adrenaline thing that's taking over the SVT nameplate. i dont know if the department is getting shut down, but a local cobra owner, who sticks his nose in ford business a lot, is pretty sure that things arent going to be SVT badged anymore. SVT cobra, SVT lightening, ect. it'l be the addrenaline line now. i dont know if he's guessing or if he actually has a source, though.

The Adrenaline was just a concept. That like I said above isn't going to be built. I don't see "adrenaline" replacing SVT. It isn't a division or even a nameplate just a name on this concept.

SVT shutting down? Why? Its not like everyone wants their cars beacuse they are mad fast. Im sure ford would not let SVT go down. They have the new shelby, and the lightning comming out. The salesman probably drives a honda or some crappy jap. car.

What lightning? There isn't one being planned currently. Read my posts above.

And the New Shelby GT500, all thou built by most of the people in the SVT group has no SVT badge anywhere.

I thought I read some where that the gt 500 will wear cobra and svt badges? I have yet to see one in person though...

The sport tracks do look like the one up above, i've seen the booklet at the dealership, and SVT is coming out with a new line up of cars, or so i was told by my dad (ford dealership salesman).

I really hope the SVT line stays with Ford. I also heard that they were planning on making an SVT Fusion in a couple of years. Like they made the SVT Contour. Who know I just hope for some day to own an SVT cobra or Lightning.

yea if im not mistaken those are svt badges so uh Labora can shut up. They are clearly on the wheels and inside on the floor. Pics i got from the auto show.

I'll give you that one. I still wonder if the production version will have SVT badges we shall see. The future of the SVT dept. still looks sad. (coming from a guy who drives a SVT)
