Was reading an Auto Mag(think it was Motor Trend, not 100% sure though) at the local Meijers while the wife was shopping and they had an article about GM's rwd future. The article stated that Pontiac will not get a variation of the Camaro or other Chevy rwd v8 coupe that is rumored to be ready for the public around 2008-2010 after the present GTO runs it's course. They will strictly be niche vehicles from here on out except for the G6 which is it's bread and butter car. It also stated that the G6 will keep Pontiac around for a few years due to it's sales success. Looks like GM is going to play catch up for a while to the Mustang and DCX's Challenger if it gets the green light.
Whatever...pics of the Firebird are already on the web from Detroit...
If you think about it, most of the people who buy Pontiacs now are loyal fans, it's time to push that image away.
It's time to make more conservative but halfway-"luxurious" vehicles. It could be like a Lexus or Infiniti for GM. I'm not saying that this is what they will accomplish, but I assume that that is the image they are trying to push.

For the record the 06 Camaro Concept is on the Holden/GTO platform which it will later be called Zeta-- 2007 forward. So the platform is not dead and still under N-A GM's radar.
Pontiac will have a V8 RWD sports car but it may have one year of M.I.A., now the real question is, what name will GM be putting, either GTO or Firebird?

Ehh, I'll keep my firebird I currently have. Not feeling the new design and I never really liked the GTO.
I wouldn't put the shaker hood on there unless it was functional... same with the hood scoops.

according to GMI the GTO is going to go on a little break... what comes back, who knows. retro GTO? retro firebird?
and as for any firebird "concepts", every single one is a photoshop... but they look pretty decent IMO

I believe the Zeta platform was cancelled.
^^ wrong... it was postponed but the camaro concept was released at the detroit auto show and the los angeles auto show. theres tons of updates on it, just search and you'll find them.
