Anyone have one? Personal opinions, pros, cons?
Pros: Design, utility & space, ride, comfort.
Cons: 3400 V6 with 185Hp. It should have the 3500 V6 atleast with 200+Hp instead.
Better yet, put in the Honda V6 from the Vue. Besides the 3400 is almost discontinued except for these twins.
The SUV is well put and well engineered.

My dad has an Equinox. I like the 5 speed auto. Its pretty peppy and it can do killer doughnuts in the snow
I was thinking of getting one and ended up with a Vibe because it was cheaper and more fuel efficient. I like the Theta platform, I love the styling of the Equinox, but I'd rather have the Honda V6 from the Vue. In the end if I had gone with a Theta, I have no idea what I would have picked, between the Equinox LT and the Vue Redline. Hindsight, I should have gotten one because it drives me nuts how underpowered the Vibe is.

im with Dave on this one, my mom has an equinox my dad has a vibe, since my car is in the body shop from a wreck i have been driving the vibe. Gas milage is awsome, ive driven over 270 miles and im not even to a quarter of a tank, i am talking about the AWD version too, the weakest engine avaliable in the vibe line. I LOVE the Equinox though, the sliding rear seat is nice and in my opinion the 3400 engine has plenty of pep for an suv of its size. The factory sound system and woofer are great too.
I have wanted the Torrent since it came out...and at the car show this past weekend, I got to see three of them and actually sat in the one that I want (the leather interior) and fell in love.
I really want this as my next vehicle and just wanted some opinions.
My wife has an Aztek (which she thoroughly loves), but it has not been the best car we've owned reliability-wise, however I've had worse.
Remember the old Ford commercials from the '80's? Quality is Job One? On one of mine quality was job 638, right after figuring out how to make parts fall OFF the f***ing car as you drive...
Oops, sorry for the rant.
She wants to replace the Azzy with a Torrent (or 'Nox), I would like to see if we could slide into a Malibu Maxx SS or G6 GTP.
Looks like I may be sleeping in the doghouse for a while...

V-6 only has 185HP?! That blows! The 06 Rav4s will have 269HP out of their v-6!

Don't forget that the Asstec and the Rendezvoux also have the 3.4.
Well, Aztek is no more.
&
Rendezvous for 2006 has 196 hp/215tq 3500 3.5L V-6 which replaces 3400 3.4L V-6 as the standard engine. Odd the same engine in Impala trim makes 211HP.
So it is a matter of time we will see the 3500 V6 in the engine bay of the Equinox Torrent.

Yeah but don't forget this marks the first time the Rav-4 will have a V6. Over the years it's always been a 4-banger to the tune of about 150hp.

I don't understand this. The point of the Rav4 was to be a small efficient SUV, and now they made it bigger, and put a hugely powerfull engine in it. What's the point, if people wanted a bigger, more powerfull "SUV", they could just get a Highlander.
Anyway I think the Equinox is the Best looking SUV around, except for the Jeep Cherokee, but they don't make those anymore.
Dave: True, not sure why they didn't put a V-6 in it earlier.
The Rav4 still rates at 22/29.....21/28(4WD). Still efficient to me!
I would say get the Torrent...looks way better than the ugly Equinox! IMO
Here is another ridiculous option on the 2006 Rav-4. Third-row seating. Yep... on a "cute-ute." Why have the Highlander & 4-Runner?
The last reference I want to make on the Equinox/ Torrent twin's 3400 V6, it is weak when it comes to HP rating. At least it has sufficient torque for around town errands, but don't ask it to do easy passing on the hwy.

Im currently driving an equinox for the winter (cobalt is in storage in california) and the only bad thing I can honestly mention is what goodwrench gt already stated, that the motor could use just a bit more power. Nice trucks however.
