I THINK some of the GM plants are like that, not totally sure though and if they are like that they've been like that for a loooooong time.

That's still BS. If ANY company does that in my knowledge, then they're practicing horrible business ethics.
I wouldn't be surprised if every car manufacturing company did that. It's not a huge deal, like we've all been corrupted, but it's still strange. Your employees build your cars for you, but if they don't drive what they build, all of a sudden they're not good enough as the other employees?
I just membered I think the GM factories was with FOREIGN built cars... including any foreign built GM cars were not allowed in the lot... I really dont know, I was told this a few years ago.
Well i dont know...i dont see a huge problem with it...I mean if they told them that they were going to fire them if they bought another brand then thats a little @!#$ up. But all they are doing, is saying if you dont drive ford park in the other parking lot...i see where they are coming from...and i hate ford. Plus its not even the whole company...ints one plant..
Seriously if you were manufacturing say...a computer, and your employees are using someone elses computers for home use, what does that tell other consumers....

think about it, if you work in a clothing store like say American Eagle, you cant wear different brands of clothing while your working.
^ ^ ^ in that case they should give them the 50% discount like most clothing stores do. In a lot of stores you can wear other cloths, so long as they are un marked ( no other brand name visible). So maybe employees should just shave the emblems off. LOL

It makes sense to me. They aren't being fired or anything for having other cars, they just can't park in front of the plant with it...
So they have to walk a little longer to work. Consider it a free cardio workout for the employees...

When people drive by the Ford plant and all they see in the parking lot are Hondas, GM, BMW, ect that tells them that the people who make these things don't want to drive them, why should I. Must be something wrong with them...

It's not as bad as it seems:
- It's only ONE plant, not company wide.
- It only applies to one lot where you need a permit to park, all other employees use another lot to park in that's across the street.
- They expect you drive a Ford or some subsidiary. That means you could roll in driving a Jaguar if you wanted.
I think it's a foolish idea, but then again, I believe that you oughtta be allowed to make your own decisions on what you want to drive.

MY Dad works at the new Delta Plant in Lansing MI and they said similiar things to them. If its a GM car including Saab, etc. you can park at the lot in front of the building, if its another domestic you can park out off in the side lot (think parking as far from the mall entrance as possible) and if its a foreign car you can park at the dump across the street and down the road. I totally agree with this. I mean cmon support the company that provides your livelyhood, all GM and Ford employees make way more money then the company can afford and they bitch and moan when GM closes a facility meanwhile there driving a new Ford pickup or a Toyota to work. Show some pride and respect for your company...

You can make your own decision on what to drive. They never said you couldnt drive whatever you wanted, they just dont want it parked on there property. So tell me what youd tell your uncle or friend who works at GM or Ford when they start bitching about the layoffs and closing while riding around in the vehicle that he just bought made by a different company? "Youd say... No Biggie your allowed to buy whatever you want and you have a right to be mad about the layoffs?" GM and Ford are both at a point now where every vehicle sold counts.

They had it at our plant then took it away then had it and again took that rule away.
But I would like to seem the reinforce that rule again.
It isn't like you get fired. They just tow your car away after a warning. Where our "Across the street" is, That is where I park now and it really isn't that far to drive.
Like stated before even clothing stores like Ambercrombie make you wear what they sell.

You should support the company that pays your mortgage and put's your kids through school.

My buddy works for Abercrombie part time. He Hates abercrombie, but they were hiring. He wears there clothes now, he supports who he works for.
