New project car
Sunday, January 15, 2006 8:17 PM
I have been looking around for a good project car for quite a while now....ever since I got rid of my stang. I just kind of happened to stumble onto this 1981 corvette. Metallic blue with glass T-tops. 100% stock when purchased. It needs some interior work, a valve job, and new valve cover gaskets. I gave $9,073.75 after taxes and and everything...not too bad for an L81 w/ 83,XXX original miles. The picture is bad, I know, but after moving I haven't found my digital camera, so I used my phone. Any comments welcome.

nice what are your plans for it?

first thing is to get the valves to stop ticking, and get her to stop marking her territory everywhere we go.

Eventually I would like to do an electric fan, side pipes, new intake manifold, msd hei upgrade kit, and eventually heads and cams when i get the cash. 190 HP in a vette is a sin.

I have added a new edelbrock air cleaner, accel superstock 8mm wires, and new plugs, and pulled the A/C and smog pump.

Mmmm....Corvette.... Looks good and I like your ideas for it. I wish I could afford an older 'vette to build up. Make sure to do progress pics.

Thanks everyone for the comments.

The vette will be relativley cheap to work on....because of the carbeurated 350. Summit has hedman headers for around 160 if i remember correctly. Like I said, the car needs some work. But for just over $9k i dont think i did too bad.

The L81 is a 5.7 350

Looks really nice. I love the colour, and the rims look in prefect shape. Great find, the car looks HOT!

The 81 350 will be slow because of all the emissions crap. My dad has a 73 350 which was just before emissions and it hauls ass.

yeah the car is way too slow for me. She is running a hell of a lot stronger now that i have done the plugs and wires, timing, air cleaner, and pulled the AC and the smog pump. But its still not where I want it.
