It could happen. DaimlerChrysler staffers are being quoted as saying it would only take 18 to 24 months to get the Challenger into showrooms once management gives the go-ahead.
Given the overwhelmingly encouraging response that the company received after the concept car's unveiling at the Detroit Auto Show. It's hard to imagine that DaimlerChrysler would turn down the opportunity to one-up Chevrolet, whose Camaro concept is said to be three years away from production.
Of course, DaimlerChrysler has a huge advantage over Chevy, in that the Challenger is based on a shortened version of the LX platform already in production for the Chrylser 300, Dodge Charger and Dodge Magnum. Add to that a full line of platform-compatible powertrains, and a 2008 model-year Challenger looks like a slam dunk.

but what about the price?
the mustang needs some compitition. this reminds me of when the mustang came out in 64 and took chevy three years to come up with compitition.
maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow....... but some day
I want one!!!! These look 100X better than the redone Camaro....IMO. GM needs to learn from Ford and Dodge.
Sooo badashe!
itll come out and basically be a two door charger prolly
dodge would be stupid to not do it
At Detroit they said the Camaro if GM gave the thumbs up could be out in 18 months. LOL Well that is what I heard them say when I was right there looking at the Camaro.
2008 is when i'll be in the market for a new car hopefully this happens and the price is right it just seems to be dodge sets their prices kind of high.
After 34 years Dodge may come back into the musclecar market, this is good.
08 sounds good to me, by then the school loan will be paid off
I actually think it looks better than the new Mustang, and this is coming from a stang owner.
Hopefully they don't change too much for the production version
the front is too flat on the challanger. they need a small molded bumper under the grill.
im still liking the camaro.
maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow....... but some day

Sure they said that...after hearing DCX is ready NOW they scurry. 3 years from now we'll get a camaro but it will look nothing like the concept and end up a FWD V6. A coupe version of the Malibu probably....because GM never follows suit with concepts. They build the best concepts....and the worst cars. Only DCX has a consistaint record over the years of producing their concepts 90% exact to production, and pulling that off in under 2 years.

ford is pretty good with concepts to actual cars too
the challenger is the most like its 70' model its trying to resemble
i liked them old and i like them new
DCX has done it before the 1st gen Durango only took 18 months from concept to production, so it wouldn't be a shocker to see this car in production that soon.
Yella02-I promise I will return to you in one piece and this will stay up until I am safely home
yes but you see how the front valance tucks more under the car than the new one. its just a little too flat IMO. and yes thiss is the best looking dodge out there.IT DOESNT LOOK LIKE A TRUCK. lol i have helped fix 4 73 challangers i know them inside and out.
maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow....... but some day
i think it wouldnt look so flat if there was a chrome bumper like the old ones between the grill and valance
but i still like the look a lot
if they build it, i will come
... sorry, that sounds kinda gross
YOU guys DO know this car will weigh 4160 pounds right ?
oink oink
My Cav
I give up...
i'm buying a VW those people love trees, so they should love eachother too... "Andy"
and yet itll still have a better power to weight ratio than a cav! haha
As long as in comes with a manual, I'll probably buy it.
I hope GM is watching ! And notes NO modern themes mixed in to spoil the cars good looks like they have on the Camaro concept car.
Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.
I want one. MMM it looks so good. Mopar has come out with quite a few good looking cars lately.
