Recently I got a Mustang Bullitt, which will be replacing my 03 sunfire as the "summer car".
Currently the fire is a winter car, getting me from A to B, but it was never meant to be the wintermobile.
I have debated on selling the fire and picking up a cheap honda winter beater cause driving the fire in the winter is not too practical. Basically the fire was set up for a liitle show with the coilovers, audio, wheels and c/f hood, it looks out of place in the winter and I'm sure salt and coilovers are not a good mix after awhile. The mustang in snow is not an option.
One side of me says "you own it", while the other side says "it's worth more now than later to sell". Parting it out is hard to do, as I have no original parts to put back.
Any thoughts are appreciated.
a 4wd or awd car would be better for a winter car , than a your s/f or honda
plus the added salt will eat up the s/f quick , so you will loose even more money on it
the cross road your at id sell it now and get a good winter car , that you wont care about loosing money on
since bad thing always seam to happen with snow/ice/water on the ground
Congrats on the bullitt.
If is paid off why not keep it? Just prep it for the snow some and your good to go. It is nice to have another car to drive that isn't a total crap box. (like a beater might be)
95 Cobra
Check out my site
sell the fire and get a used subaru or small 4x4 pickup/suv
Thanks for all the replys.
The 4wd/awd route is interesting, I hadn't thought much about it. I'll check on prices of scoobys and such.
Labora- Thanks for the congrats, I do think that it's nice to drive a good looking car in the winter but 97cavie24ls made a good point about the hazzards of snow/ice and the like.
I've been nervous as it is with the way the sunfire looks about ice and salt doing damage and it would be better if I had a car that wasn't worth much to kick around the snow.
I'm gonna price out some autos and see where I stand as to making $$$ on selling the fire.
If I can get a buyer to take the car as is then that would be great but I fear that I might have to return to stock to get the fire sold.
Thanks and keep the opinions coming
Welcome to the Stang club. I just bought a mustang for a summer car as well. I still have my z24 but it just sits there only 53,xxx miles on it. I cant bring myself to sell it. So I just let it sit there. Oh and I got a jeep cherokee for my winter beater. 4x4 cant beat that either. Good luck on what ever you do here are my pics of my rides.
My new stang (to me) 95 Gt, 5spd, 5.0L H.O, with 66,102 miles.
Z24 just sits now, but I still love it!
and my winter beaters!!! Jeep Cherokee with 184,000 miles!

^^I was looking at Cherokees like that one before buying my Toyota pickup. Those things are dirt cheap but I couldn't find one with a manual tranny like I could with the Toyota. Otherwise I would have bought one.
Rob
Sold 2/2/05

yeah the manuals are nice. Boy the jeep can take a beatin' It makes me realize if you treat a car right it should last you a long time!

Get a jeep as a winter beater. You can find cherokees around 3k I for one would look for an old cj.

Gotta love the 5.0 and it's a vert which is pretty rare nowadays, nice ride
4x4 or AWD is the route I may go, I'm still trying to find something decent that fits into around 3k max. Jeeps are cool, I really wanted a TJ at one point but never made it happen.
I'm going to check on the Bullitt tomorow, I may post up some pics of it if I can.
Thanks all
I would sell the J and try and find nice little 4x4 like already mentioned.
I am all that is man
Here's some pics of mine, I broke her out for a run today in Toronto
No snow and lots of sun today
Photo of me and the car (I'm not the best digital photographer so it's kinda blurry)
The back of the Bullitt, you can see some damage that the original owner did
the damage made it easier to get a better price on it but everything else is flawless
A pic of the passenger side, the aluminum gas cap is stock on all Bullitts, although it's been riced out by lots of hondas here
Finally the unique hologram ID sticker that every Bullitt gets (only 5,800 made!)
I might get some more today but that's all for now
looks nice there Steve McQueen
themarin8r- Thanks, Mcqueen is my idol.
The chase scene is what got me hooked though.
Nice 68' you got there too, ever think of converting to a replica GT 390?
Now I gotta go find some black chargers.
so whats special about the bullitts as apposed to a stock GT?
I rode for a couple hours in a Bullitt, i liked it
Wow love the bullit!! Sweet car my man!! If you dont mind me asking how much did you get the bullit for??? Yeah, Im really excited for my stang. It took me a long time to find just the right car that would fit my budget. Post some interior pics of the bullit. As far as jeeps they are super cheap to pick up. You just gotta keep you eyes open.

get a 1997 cherokee in forest green to match your bullitt,
later, get some matching 17" replica bullitt wheels M+S tires for it.
people will think there was a method to your madness hehe.
That's a good idea, thanks!
24zeta- heres a shot of the interior
You can see the 60's look dash and machined pedals etc
This one shows the 60's comfort weave seats
Thanks for all the compliments and suggestions, this place is great
Oh yeah 24zeta- I bought it for 15,000 CDN taxes in with 60,000km's on it
The scratches on the back bumper didn't justify 16,000 that the dealer wanted.
Wish this place had an edit button then I wouldn't look like a post whore lol
very nice pony. if i was buying a 99-04 stang, it would be either a Bullitt or Mach 1
Love the stang my man. I wish I could afford a newer stang. I cant wait to bring mine out from storage this summer!
Bullit will be a great collectors car! You got a great price too!
