Ok I know some of you seen and heard about the Chevy Stingray as posted in the Saturn Sky pricing thread. In that thread you see the picture from Motor Trend and they said it is going to be on the Kappa platform (Solstice, Sky).
But whispers at work of the Stingray name will be going to a diffrent Vehicle.
I know you guys are saying "But that is the Camaro !!!" And by all means it could be. But like I said the whispers at work is saying the Camaro name is dead.
Also just for Giggles I came up a new name for the Chevy Version of the kappa Platform. In Keeping with the Solstice, Sky and Lightning them. I say name it Storm I know I know it's a Geo but you never know.
calling the camaro replacement a stingray , will undoubtedly PISS OFF ALOT OF PEOPLE
if GM is gonna be stupid enough to kill the camaro name altogether
atleast call the new car a chevelle
ick...chevy should stop wasting money to make ugly concepts like that
Just to let you know again. This isn't GM's word this is just rumors going around at a GM plant.
what is this lightning you speak of?
I have always wanted to see Chevrolet come out with a car called the "Chase", cause then, you could be like, wow, I bought a "Chevy Chase".
Get it? Get it? Oh come on people, WORK WITH ME.

i concur
but also if they have a retro looking camaro and call it something else thats B.S.
It is unlikely Chevy would call the next Camaro (if there is one) by another moniker other than Camaro. Stingray name sounds possible for a Chevy variant of the Sky. Some how though I just dont see GM allowing Chevy to have two sports cars that only have 2 seats.

isnt the stingray an old version of a corvette?
i found a model of a concept for the stingray 3 that looks like a cross between a camaro and a vette. the model is from 93

themarin8r didn't you already ask that Question?
Vauxhall Lightning
Also they GM might get into Legal promblems with calling it a Camaro. If they don't call it a Camaro. BLAME CANADA!!!! (South Park)
Calling any car a Stingray that isn't a Vette is just wrong.

You do that when your mom talks about girl's night out at chippendale's.
I do that too.
If it's not network news, it's probably the truth getting out.
Some people are like slinkies: Not really good for anything,
but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them
down a flight of stairs.
Just shaking things up. I mean, Chevy Chase needs a comeback just as bad as Chevrolet in general. But, sorry for the vomit enducing joke, lol.
I do like the Stingray idea, but GM truly needs to stop re-badging cars as soon as they start getting a lot of sales and positive feedback. Designing and producing unique vehicles within each brand would almost definitely help them in gaining back much needed respect and sales by both consumers and the industry, but thats just not their style. It so easy to make a "new" car from their enormous grab bag of vehicle parts and platforms, so that is just how it will be for them. My two cents. Now, off to dinner.
