grats on running 12's...

oh, just a heads up, stock ss's and ws6's will, and have run 11's off just a cam job and slicks..

LT1 is just GM's designation for the engine. Like the 2.4L DOHC in GT/Z24's is the LD9, and the 2.2 OHV is the LN2. The LS1 was the replacement for the LT1 engine. Higher hp, took better to mods, etc. Also, there are better factory derivatives of the LS* engines, like the LS2 (current engine in GTO's, CTS-V's, etc) and LS6 (C6 Z06 engine, IIRC). Parts are interchangable (hence why you would put an LS6 manifold on an LS1 for a hp gain).

How slow is your grandpa's 35th anniversary?

HAHAHA...."JUST" a cam job. That is funny. You make it sound so easy/cheap.

Anyways...there are LS1 F-Body's running in the 10's on the stock heads and stock shortblock. No nitrous, no boost.
Basicly cam, suspension, and all the bolt-ons.

I did the car in one day maybe like 6 hours total because you can leave the polish on as long as you like and it still comes off like cake. read all of the stuff and the reviews on zainostore.com and you'll be impressed if you try it i promise you.

if you know what you're doing, you can replace a cam on an ls1 in about 8 hours..

Oh I know.
Done plenty of work on mine. Hell...just recently put the motor back in.

Just saying...for someone that has limited tools and hasn't done it before, expect an entire weekend. First time I did a cam swap, it took quite some time.
Now...probably 5-6 hours if I didn't take breaks. Crane valvespring tool is a GOD!

my mustang beats his z28. the stang is modified but come on he has over a liter more than me. its an auto so that might have something to do with it. white vert_i hear thats the main reason its slow. no nip kit and the nasty chrome 16 inch wheels. i hate it. looks like a v6. i shouldn t say its slow but its not what i thought it would be and its not what he talks trash. funny though an 80year old man talking trash about his car...

how much did you pay for the products?
wheels you have arent too bad but gun metal z06 wheels and a 2in drop would be better.....

First off an auto F-body isnt really any slower then an m6. Second there is no way that his z28 can only run high 14s. Either whoevers driving it, can't drive or there is something wrong with the car. Stock ls1s can run anywhere from low 13's to high 13's.
And even if its an lt1 it should be capable of atleast high 13's.
