speed had a test drive on it. I like it, but it doesnt make sense to me at all... i mean its a jeep
Pretty sweet. Makes sence to me, after all how many jeep owners now a days actually use them for the off roading ability they used to be so popular for? not many. Now most people use them for transportation of the family and grocerys....so why not do it faster than most sports cars lol.

I want to see a comparison with the Chevy Trailblazer SS (which carries a LS2 & Saab 9-7x suspension...just beefed up). The good thing you can either get the SS in 2wd or Awd too.

I'm actually kind of sick of Chrysler throwing a Hemi in anything and everything they can fit it in, especially Jeeps. I'm actually kind of getting sick of new Jeeps in general, since they started steering them more towards regular family SUV's with a good brand name. I mean, during their whole timespan, the main poit of Jeeps is ruggedness and offroading ability. Speed isn't even a consideration, neither is how comfortably and roomily it can carry 5 or 8 passengers. I dunno, it just irks me.
First of all, I'd like to thank certain JBO'ers for being such Cobalt-nut-sucking tools.
Secondly, I'd like to thank Travis Kearny and Jordan Kruger for being so entertaining.
I <3 falnfenix, JimmyZ, Borsty, NJHK, and all the other intelligent people on JBO
Powered by a 6.1-liter HEMI producing 415 horsepower (85 more horses and 25 percent more power than the 5.7-liter HEMI-equipped 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee) and 410 lb.-ft. of torque, the all-new 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8's performance numbers include 0-60 mph in under 5 seconds, 0-100-0 mph in the low 19-second range, and 60-0 mph braking distance of approximately 125 feet.
hmmmmmm, sounds GOOOOOD

Real cars don't make power at the front wheels......
THEY LIFT THEM !!!

yep, faster than a Porsche Cayenne turbo...

You've got to evolve to stay alive in the auto industry, old reputations aren't going to carry a small brand like Jeep in this day and age, they needed to start branching out and hitting the mainstream, and that's what they did, will it work, that's still up in the air, but it seems to be working so far.
The Hemi really isn't in a whole bunch of vehicles it just seems that way since it's marketed so well. The Hemi is only in 7 vehicles, and all of them have at least one other engine available. The fact that the Hemi costs less then the 4.7L V-8 and in my truck cost an extra $1000 isn't too bad of a business reason to market the Hemi.
Yella02-I promise I will return to you in one piece and this will stay up until I am safely home
the wheels look so tiny on that side view
I saw a commercial advertising them the other day and I don't think they are too bad of a vehicle. I would love to take one out for a spin.
Have a good one,
Justin

Yes the Trailblazer SS owns, atleast I hope they outsell the Jeep SRT8. As it stands right now I have a 33% chance that I put the Rear seats studs in the floorpan. haha
I know Karo is looking into the Trailblazer SS and you know Lingenfelter will have the S/C ready for it. Actually they should have something up about in on
http://www.lingenfelter.com/ anytime now.
I remember making all the "test" wheels for the prototypes.....They contracted us at Forgeline to make them until Alcoa could come up with a factory wheel...... Believe me, they tested those poor jeeps to no end....

Are you serious?
Many jeepers are upset with the introduction of the SRT-8. I myself think its cool as @!#$ and i wouldnt mind owning one. However, i dont like seeing the jeep name on it...its not a jeep.

agreed
Two wrongs don't make a right. Unless you're Chuck Norris.
Then two wrongs make a roundhouse kick to the face.
hurrayyyy fuel crisis!!!!
you just watch, a new level of wasteful design is going to follow this crap, soon theres gonna be ls1 Ventures, and Hemi Town and Country's, and then a Lingenfelter Aveo.....
I see the engineers have given up on the "will it roll over?" now it's "how many times can we get it to roll over?"
Mr.Goodwrench-G.T. wrote:^^I think you forgot about the GMC Typhoon which is the grandfather of fast SUVs.
that and after the typhoon you had the ml55 amg benz, the G-wagon amg benz, and the bimmer x5 4.6is for the luxury fast utes before the cayenne came along, with those SUV's already in the market it made sense for jeep to offer something to compete in the market for a sometimes substantially lesser price.

Sorry to go off topic, but technically the Gladiator is almost a reality within the new Wrangler. If you would slap a half hard top on it, the similarities would be very close.
http://www.jeep.com/autoshow/gladiator/gallery.html - Gladiator Concept
http://jweb.jrations.com/07wrglr/07wrglr_index.php - 2007 Wrangler
Notice the same (or similar):
- fenders
- front bumber
- steering wheel
- dash layout
- doors & mirrors
- tweeters/speakers on the dash
I too wish the Gladiator would become a reality too, it would be sweet to have a truck like that with a diesel underneath.
Have a good one,
Justin
