My g/f's '85 Volvo...it has a 2.3L fuel injected engine in it. One evening i took it to the store to put some air in the tire and noticed that it was missing. It seemed like a spark miss so i figured i should go ahead and tune it up (it has those bosch +2 plugs in it, I figured those were probably to blame). Anyway, before i could tune it up, my g/f's mom had to take it to work, but had a hard time getting it to start. It was turning over, but wouldn't start. Finally it started. She took it to work, stopped to get coffee, fired up fine..But, when she went to park it, it just completely died. I checked it out and it's not getting fuel or spark. It IS getting spark to the coil, but no fire out of it. Her other daughter put a coil on it while i was at work, but that didn't fix it. I was just wondering if anybody else had an idea. It sounds like a Crank Sensor or a Ignition control module (not sure what they call it on the volvo...it's the one under the distributor)..Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Brian

maby the comp. my dads 89 f-150 did the same thing.
I'm not sure what exactly is wrong there, but check your timing belt too. A friend of mine has 2 Volvos from around the mid 80s (one a 240, one a 740 non turbo) and BOTH broke timing belts and wouldn't run at all. There was no other damage though, replaced the belts and all was well.

no belt problem...rotor button still turns...
possibly a computer problem. First thing i'm going to try the Igntion Control Module (or whatever they call it...the module under the rotor button).
