im looking at buying a used toyota prius as a daily driver. im just not sure if i should.

2005 toyota prius
http://www.intellichoice.com/reports/vehicleReport/vehicle_nmb/16211

i found one locally for a good deal, its a private seller one owner guy in his mid 60s the car is perfect in and out. it has h.i.d headlamps, leather interior and when you walk up to the car it unlocks automaticly. its painted that pearl black metallic color

it has 27,000 miles on it and he is asking $22,500
and it comes with a toyota extended warranty for 8yrs/100,000miles that is transferable to me.

i went to the bank and i got my loan approval yesterday

now i just need to decide if i want another car payment.....
its not that i cant afford it. its just idk if i want to spend that much on a car that i will only put about 4,000-6,000 miles on it a year..

last few years ive only put on about 6,000 miles on the car a year.. i dont really drive far to get any where.

anyways..... it would be approx $415.00 a month for 60 months.

i have about 19,000 miles on my 02 Sunfire i pay $259.00 a month and still owe 13months on it.

i also have a 83 cavalier i paid $200.00 for with 109,000 miles on it that runs great gets good gas mileage and works great as my daily driver right now. it just looks like hell.. lots of rust... oh well.... like i really give a @!#$.

so i just need some advice i guess. what would you do? what should i do?

any comments are welcome since i have know i dea what im looking for in this post.
wtf?

thanks

yeah $63 a month for liability ins. for the cavi.

$243.00 a month for full coverage on the prius

i allready pay $217.00 a month full coverage for my fire

im about 99% sure im going to pass on it and stick with the old school rusty beater.

If I were u I would keep the cavi and not get the prius. It seems like u just want to get it for good gas mileage. But you already have the cavu for that. So what if it looks bad. Not many people on the road know you anyways.

Ugh the Prius aren't the best looking cars, but then again neither are the Pontiac Aztecs. I would say stick to your Cavalier. Hybrid cars like that would only be beneficial (in my opinion) if you do a lot of driving on a regular basis. If you're only going to put 4,000 to 6,000 miles at best on it, I don't think it would be worth it.

However, this is just one person's opinion.

For the extra money you are paying for the Prius when compared to a non-hybrid, it would take years and years for you to cover that price premium in fuel savings, especially at only 4000-6000 miles per year.

Considering any non-hybrid vehicles?

i am looking at this used chevy aveo thats for sale i was told about. it has about 50,000mi. on it and the guy wants $5,500 for it.
its the very lowest model zero options. idk know what year it is or how it runs or anything else about it..
i guess the guy wants to sell it because he cant drive stick anymore because he shattered his hip and needs hip replacement surgery so hes going to buy a used buick.

idk..... i think im just going to keep the beater and thats it for know

thanks everyone for the input

if you do a lot of around town driving the prius would help a lot because the gas mileage is better around town, but if its mostly highway driving I would stick with rusty. If you want the ultimate in cheap and gas mileage, the early 90s geo metro XFIs got 59 mpg highway...that makes it almost worth it to drive one.
