Anyone know any pros or cons of removing the honeycomb mesh from the throttle body of a 3800 S/C?
thanks
I know that there are 3.8 forums out there just wanted to get my info here since I'm on here alot
pros- higher airflow. that's about it
cons - the mesh straightens and removes the turbulance form the aifrlow running through the throttle body. remove the mesh (commonly called the screen) and the air entering the TB is more turbulant and the MAF sensor readings can get messed up. especially if you have a rough intake, such as the folded tubing used in the stock airbox. it also keeps some dirt from getting into the engine. it's a last line defence thing.
conclusion, clean it and leave it in. it doesnt help nearly as much to take it out.

it's not how fast you go, it's how you get there that counts.

yeah, i wasnt gonna get too technical on him, but it is 231. it's the cubic inches in a 3.8L engine. it's ok, though. i'll let it slide this once.
