I want to get a new car for my wife. Anything better than her 95 lumina. Were lookin at an 03 gtv6/ auto tranny with 45000 miles. It has all the options, leather, sunroof ect... and has aftermarket rims on it. Right now there asking $12,500 plus a genorous trade in on the lumina. Everything ive read about them seems pretty good. I just want to see what you all think about them, and if that price sounds about right. Other cars we were interested in were 00+ celica, eclipse, cougar or a new base cobalt.
i dont know much about em'..but they look pretty nice.
My friend had one and it was pretty nice. Not very fast (5 speed), but i liked it. I heard the autos are turds performance wise.
"Custom cars, custom problems."-me
autos are always slow unless u build them then auto pwn manuals
I'd go for the base cobalt. While it may not have all the nice options and what not, it would be BRAND NEW. You really never know how a cars been treated and it could come back to bite you in the ass.
well since u guys seem like a young couple which is pretty much hand in hand with limited income why dont you get a new car like the above person said like a cobalt or a 03+ cav sunfire type of deal for alot less and it would be brand new.
just dont trade in your car u always just screwed in trading in your car.

^buying brand new is a no no (even though i was young and did myself).
he mine as well let someone take the nice new-car depreciation
yeah but instead of buying a 2 year old used car for 12 grand spend 12 grand on a new one.
thats what i mean.

I bought my sunfire brand new, im not sure i want another ho-hum new car. Nothing against the cobalt but the tiburon is a lot nicer.... 2 years ago that car was almost $20,000
I wish i could get the 6 speed but my wife dosent want to learn. Insurance wasnt that bad either. I got quoted 150 for full coverage on the sunfire and tiburon. Im still debating... any other car suggestions in the 10k range and 2000+, sporty coupe.
you get more bang for your buck if you buy used or pre-owned because once you drive the car off the lot you lose like 5 grand of the sticker price. Used it doesnt do that
My gf's mom has a Tibby GT... looks hot but I haven't gotten a ride in it yet

if hes not gonna sell it the next day it doesnt matter
. Fact of the matter is its a NEW CAR, it will have 0 miles. I think instantly "losing 5k" is worth 0 miles compared to 45k miles that no one knows how the car was treated.
But better yet... why not get a USED cobalt. I see a bunch on autotrader for around 11k, with like 6k miles on them. So there, you can get a lower mileage, cheaper cobalt than that tiburon. Lower milage > higher milage.
Mazda 3 is a very nice car. you can get a new 1 for like 14K and a 2 year used 1 with 10,000 miles for 10K. check carmax.

i say go with the cobalt. you could prob get a ss n/a for that price range.
maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow....... but some day
go with the tiburon.. the autos are still quick with minor work.. get the supercharger or turbo kit for them and you will be very happy. they also sound evil with exhaust work done.. mine has no mufflers on it just a cat and resonator with the stock headers still and it has a nice low deep rumble to it.
really you will be happy with it the seats are pretty comfortable.. besides the manuals had clutch issues up until 2005 when they finally were able to get those resolved.
one of the local guys has one that is a auto running 15psi on the supercharger and runs 13 flat with no traction in the 1/4 the 6 speed supercharged one that another one in the group owns is running 9psi with a bad clutch running a mid 14 in the 1/4.
Had to change sig because some dickhead is mad it went 1 letter over size
I payed 12000 for mine and its an 03 GTV6 5spd. fully loaded with leather, sunroof, etc. and can't forget that infinity sound system, its awsome. if you get one with the sound system you can rewire the factory sub and it will hit pretty hard for a factory sub. theres not to many around here so Im kinda different, like the sunfire. everyone has hondas around here. I bought it to drive every day and have a little fun, its not fast but has enough power and suspension to have fun on the back roads with. plus it has all that down low end torque

Your claim is that you never know what has happened to a car thats used
then you suggest a used car
um ok
More than likely the Tiburon is still under its 10 year/100,000 mile warranty unless its non-transferable, so there shouldnt be a problem. I would rather pay 1500 more for a nicer car with more amenities even tho it has more miles, especially if it still has the warranty, which would still be good for longer than you can get for a cobalt new.
plus the fit and finish of the tiburon is alot nicer than the cobalt. GM has went to the crapper in this department.

um ok, im saying if he doesnt want to buy a new car and "like lose 5k off the lot" he can get a NEWER, LOWER MILEAGE car for the same price or less. And yeah, I said you never know whats happened then suggested a used car, a used car with a lot less miles. The odds of things going wrong on a car with 11k are just a tad bit lower than on a car with 45k.

considering its chevy vs hyundai, id take the hyundai quality over the chevy. and like previously said, youll get more for your money, and better fit and finish
