My bestfriend and I took a stab Sunday afternoon at installing the aftermarket taillights that I had got her for Christmas on her 2000 Toyota Celica GT.
These are the lights that we installed. While it was an okay task for two people who have never done this before, we did run into one minor problem. The taillights don't seem to sit all that flush with the body and we did everything we can to get them to sit flush. I was wondering if anyone had any tips on how we can fix this. The way they sit now, there is a tiny gap that starts at the top of the taillights and extend all the way to the inner side towards the key hold on the trunk. While the gap is tiny, it's big enough to allow significant amount of moisture into the taillights due to dew, thawing of frost and of course rain. At this point, she's willing to take the suggestion of her body shop tech guy and use strip caulking on the areas with the gaps. However, I don't want her doing this if this is something we can correct ourselves.
Any Suggestions?
is there a padding like on our cavalier tail lights? if so swap that maybe that would work
Thanks for the suggestion Corolla/RX7 nerd however her body shop tech guy is going to take care of it while her car is in the shop. She was in a pretty bad car accident yesterday (right front and side was smashed all to pieces by a Chevrolet Tahoe), so while they are repairing her car they are going to do that for her.
