Looking for a place online I can order some stuff for my GTP. It is starting to feel sluggish
They have to ship to Canada (hopefully reasonably) or be located in Canada would be even better.
Any ideas?

I dunno about shipping to Canada, but check out
ZZ Performance...I'd recommend them to ANYONE, they even took care of me with their o2 simulator, and they're a local company to me here in Michigan. Come on, that's close to Canada!
Thanks, I will check then out. Any suggestions on where to start?

I'm honestly not to familiar with GTP modding, but there are a few guys on here that can't point you in the right direction.
ZZPerformance
W-body Store
3800 Performance
Parts For Your Car
Thrasher Engineered Performance
PRJ Performance
you'll need a scanner if you start tuning. i've got the LS1M. works wonderfuly. it's on a PDA, and plugs right into the OBD port.

Ok, have done a little looking, would...
this...
this...
and maybe
this...
be a good place to start?
Also, what is the stock pulley size? What is the difference between the press on pulley, and the modular pulley? How much smaller should I go right away?
Thanks.
**there is only one true love in my life... and my girlfriend has learned to live with it**
i would go with a 3.2 pulley or 3.1, at least thats what i was going to go with b4 i sold my gtp, and i think the difference from the modular pulley vs press on is the press on is that exactly just like the factory pulley, and the modular pulley is interchangeable and requires a hub, but dont quote me on that

ok, here's the deal, a GTP, as with any boosted engine, is constantly fighting detonation. detonation is when the air/fuel mixture in the cylinder preignites. this can cause anything from chipping a piston to completly obliterating your engine. now, GM factory boosted engines come with a little gizmo called a knock sensor, which senses the early signes of pre-ignition, and reduces timing to avoid detonation. this is what we refer to as knock retard. the entire name of the game is making as much power as you can with as little knock retard as you an get. STOCK cars are set up with the samllest pulley size runnable with the setup they come with. SOME STOCK CARS HAVE KNOCK RETARD. so you need to get a scanner and scan to make sure your car is running ok.
the stock pulley size in a GTP is 3.8". the next common sizes that people drop to are the 3.5" and the 3.4". but they dont do this without; Intake, Exhaust, and commonly a retuned PCM. if you drop to a smaller pulley size without the appropriate supporting mods, you WILL blow your engine up.
you're going the right direction with the intake, but you also need to go to an exhaust shop and talk to them about a u-bend delete. if you look under your car, right behind the CAT will be a portion of the exhaust where it flattens out and the O2 sensor fits in the top. this portion is a major restriction, so you need to replace that with a straight pipe and put the O2 bung out the side. The last exhaust mod you need to worry about is the downpipe coming off of the exhaust manifolds. the stock downpipe is a 2.25" tube, there are two different aftermarket dowpipes for sale, and if you're lucky you could get a local exhaust shop to do one. i believe ZZP has the RT dowpipe.
after the Wizair and exhaust mod,
then you can look into getting a smaller pulley. 3.5" is a safe pulley to go with, as lots of 3.4" owners STILL HAVE KNOCK RETARD.
I have a FWI, full exhaust, and a 3.5" pulley and run with a max of 4* of KR. this winter im putting a cam in my car, as well as new injectors, PEM's, and a few supporting things, and im STILL not dropping to a pulley smaller than 3.3" .
just be careful and take your time modding. if you dont, you can easily blow something up.

I agree. Putting a pulley on is NOT the first thing to do.
Buy a scan tool or something that reads knock retard and go from there.
I love this part.

a 3.2 is tooo small at first, smallest stock i believe is 3.4 that you can go right? my friend has one but hes got a computer and a few other things done too so im not positive

again, no. do NOT drop pulley sizes while keeping the rest of your engine stock. as i said, a 3.8 is the smallest pulley a stock GTP can run safely. before dropping pulley sizes, add a CAI or FWI, get rid of the u-bend (and you should also do the dowpipe while at it, but it's not as neccesary) and consider a computer for right after the pulley swap. you want all of your supporting mods done and over with BEFORE you drop pulley sizes, or else you will mess somethin up.

sorry for the miss information.... im not a s/c person per say and i think i got the sizing messed up cause if i keep my cobalt i was going to go with the gm stage 2 kit with a 3.0 pulley.... and phat gtp i never pulleied my old car or modded it cause i decided to just put the money in my cav instead of my daily driver
R.I.P. Brian Klocke, you will never be forgotten
i was kinda hopin there was somethin you were forgetting, leaving out, or mixing up. a 3 inch pulley is insanely small for a GTP, as it is not intercooled. they do make tons of intercoolers for them, though. as well as headers, intakes, cams, rockers. tons of stuff to help run a smaller pulley.
Boosted2point4 wrote: i never pulleied my old car or modded it cause i decided to just put the money in my cav instead of my daily driver
haha, sounds like my plan to get a stang or 3rd gen F-body as a daily. then i can say "yeah, the stang/camaro/firebird is my daily... my fun car is a Grand Prix"

yeah, ZZP is top notch. they have wonderful products with great customer service. if you e-mail Zooom, the owner of the company, he will get back to you with an answer usually within a day, and be as honest as he can. he's helped me out many times, and will do the same for anyone. that said, the other venders are great as well. the W-body store guys are always helpful. usually not quite as quick as Zooom, but almost. PFYC is a good company, not as centralized on grand prix', but close. and i havent dealt with 3800performance much. there is one thing i should mention, though. this is the vender from Ohio named INTENSE. now, personally, i have had no problems with them or their producs as i have not done business with them. and i also dont want to get in the middle of the battle. but there have been problems with product quality in the past, and getting things replaced, or refunded. just thought you should know.

work whatever floats your boat man, im taking a challenge with the cav. thats the reason why i still have it, anyone can dump money into a greatly backed car such as your statement above about a stang(v8 version of a honda civic) and or a 3rd gen maro, which are very heavily backed by large companies and or factories, kinda like my cobalt which is a largely backed car by gm with its ecotec, my cav has a 2.4 motor which has no backing hardly compared to the eco. so its comes down to what i want you can tell me im wasting my money yata yata but im out to do stuff others haven't been able to do

not at all, man. sorry if i came off as an ass. what i meant was it's cool that you chose to mod your cavi instead of the GTP. what i was saying is that modding the GTP would be the easier way to go, but you chose the other path, much like i was thinking about doing. i was going to buy a stang/f-body as a daily, and mod the GTP instead, which by comparison has very little aftermarket backing. sorry about the confusion. no hard feelings?

it's ok. after re-reading my post, i did sound like an ass. sorry 'bout that.
anyway, GTP's rule, and.... um... dont drop to too small of a pulley size. yeah.
