MT's Truck of the year

Personally I like the look of this thing especially the comfort/convenience of it. And for (my) purpose I would rock it. But if I were in the country working as a farmer or in the construction field, I'd look for a Chevy Silverado for the HD applications.

I gotta say, they are growing on me a little bit. I stopped and looked at one at a dealer ship and i was really impressed with what you got for your money. For what most people use it for i think its great. For those who do some serious towing and hauling, maybe not so great.

when i was looking for a truck, i considered a honda. But it felt like it lacked power. I didnt want a ford, or chevy. It was between the honda, nissan titan, and dodge ram, i ended up with the titan. Anyhow, i think if the throw a v8 on it, it will be big.

I'm not surprised...

It's no work truck, but at least 3/4 of people with trucks use them like they would a car... So why not have a truck that performs, drives, handles, and gets the efficiency of a car...

Honda can do no wrong... Car of the Year AND Truck of the Year...

It's sad that the criteria that make a "truck" have come to this.

Maybe they should make an IKEA Edition.

Why didnt they test the Ford F150 or Chevy Silverado?

Its a nice cross over vehicle but its not a truck in any sence of the word that I recognize.
I'd LOVE to see one working on a job site, but I doubt I ever will.

Its a truck for those who think trucks don't need to go thru mud.

its more of an suv with a bed than a truck. along the lines of the sport trac

Motortrend is no authority on trucks. They rationalize their testing by saying that most people don't use trucks as trucks. Well, so what?

It's hardly the best offroader, it can't tow what the other trucks tow, I can't put my motorcycle in the bed, it BARELY gets better gas mileage than my Silverado Crew Cab V8 (I mean like 1 mpg).

What does it really bring to the table? A smooth ride? My Crew Cab is smooth enough, and I wouldn't sacrafice my 4000 lb towing advantage for it to be any smoother. Storage compartments? It's a freaking truck! Campershells, Tonneu covers, the big back seat...plenty of storage space already!

I think it was Motortrend themselves that said it was "a truck for people who hate trucks". There you go, they voted a big car in as the winner. Way to go, MT!

It should have been in the SUV of the Year competition not the Truck of the Year. It's in the same category as the Avalanche, Escalade EXT, H2 SUT, and Explorer Sport Trac, it is not a Pick-Up Truck. It will not do any task that a true truck is asked to do, it's a uni-body so it can't tow a turd, it has a car-based V-6, so it has no power where it's really needed, down low, and the "4WD" system will do a better job of getting you stuck then unstuck.

I absolutely hate the way that Honda is marketing this thing, they're playing on the stupidity of the average consumer that doesn't know the difference between a Ram and a Neon. It works great for those who need minimum bed space and maximum passenger space without the size of a Full-size Crew Cab Shortbed, but it's getting pathetic with all these people starting to not know what a real truck is. People thinking Trucks should ride like cars, I wish it was back even 20 years ago when you knew you were driving a truck. I'm not saying go back to those days where you got the stuffing beat out of you because the truck rode so stiff, but put the Solid-Axles back under the front of the F ull-Size trucks, put some coil-springs there and tune them for a ride that won't beat the snot out of you but can still handle some serious cargo.

This thing is based on the Odyssey and the Odessey is based on the Accord. Do the math.
But many truck buyers buys trucks for image and not for their intended use. Well this fits those people.
Also in size, it is comparible to the Ranger, Colorado, Dakota, Raider, Tacoma, Frontier and i-350. Not Ram, F-series, Silverado or Tundra.

But one thing though this Ridgeline out tows the Colorado at 4000lbs. Honda says it can tow upto 5000lbs.
Now don't flame me as I am only the messenger.

Now remember there was not really nothing new. So which maybe it ran on its own.

Those are not all-new. Wait till next year as Silverado will be all new.

Yeah, but the Colorado is a big hunk of crap. The S10 could out tow it, as could the Astro vans. I would take a Ridgeline over the Colorado!

Truck or not, most everyone would have a differnt view if it said Chevy or GMC on the front. I wouldnt consider it a truck, but for what 90% of most "truck" owners actually use thier trucks for, its pretty damn capable.

Actually the 05+ Odyssey is not based off the Accord as it uses Honda's Global Light Truck Platform.

It is a pretty nice Light-Medium duty truck. I took one for a spin while our Odyssey was in for a sched. maintenance and it is not bad. I wouldn't mind getting one because I don't need to tow anything and it has the room if I needed to stop at Home Depot for a few things. I like the Dodge & Ford trucks, but wtf would I need a bigger truck if I don't tow anything or use it as a work truck?!
