was up guys! I gotta question for you all dodge fans. Is the dakota 3.9L v6 engine the same engine as the 3.9L v6 found in the ram van 1500? My dad has a van and I'm rying to get headers, exhaust, and all the goodies but can't seem to find any for the dodge ram van 1500 3.9 v6 only for the dodge dakota 3.9 v6. so if anyone out there knows about this let me know. Thanks in advance!

both are doge , so id say they are the same inside of the same year range
you gotta be carfull putting headers on a van , since the engine area around the exhaust is alot narrower than a truck
Be careful doing that, it is the same engine, but clearances around the doghouse in the van are way too tight for any type of aftermarket header. i had a 94 b-150 van with a 318 and i went through all this before. the only thing you can do really exhaust wise is get someone to custom make you a set of headers. As far as cylinder heads go, on my V8 it looked like i could have easily fit a set of aftermarket heads on it no problems, but the stock exhaust manifold would have killed the gains of a new head.
I wish i still had some pics around of my van in its prime. i had an all custom 2.5"exhast from the header back with a walker high flow cat, flowmaster 40 series delta flow muffs. msd 6al ignition, coil and wires, K&N filter kit, nice running boards, 2 tone paint and a set of 20" polished aluminum 2002 dodge ram 1500 truck factory sport rims on 275-45-20 goodyear eagle gt-II's. Have fun with the van, they are one of the best vans out there.
ooops! that's true about the clearances. There's not too much room to do anything in there! It took me about an hour to do the spark plugs!! well I guess I'll have to look into something else like catback exhaust, heads, and whatever else I can. Hey Nick that sounds like a bad ass van. what happened to it? N e ways my dads van is a v6 so I gotta go and check for clearances. I saw a van on the internet that had headers and it was a dodge v8. Thanks guys for the info. I'll keep you updated!

I sold my van once i got my cav. I got a good deal on the cav and the van was a gas hog....it had the van for 4 years so it was time to move on. The funny part is, i sold my van to my neighbor directly across the street from me so i still see it every day. the sad part is, he gutted the interior and is using it for his plastering company/
Isn't it sad when you see all the hard work you put into something just go down the drain. Well different choices for different people. Does he still have the rims on it? 'cause if he does, he must be pimpin' on his way to work everyday

nope, i sold the rims to get parts for the cav. oh well.
