Hot-Jet Coating. Who does it Cheap, or in Canada?
Saturday, December 03, 2005 2:30 AM

I might be able to get a great deal on some Banks Headers
for my XJ, and I definitely want them hot-jet coated (less heat,
20x longer header life, more power etc...). The problem is that
I don't know who performs the process in the US other than
jet-hot.com.

I'm wondering if anyone knows a shop that performs the hot
jet process on the cheap, or if they're aware of any canadian
shops.

thanks in advance

They own the process... they do the work.

If it's not network news, it's probably the truth getting out.

Some people are like slinkies: Not really good for anything,
but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them
down a flight of stairs.

yes, but there are comparable service providers lurking about.
I ran into these two companies last night. I'm assuming there
is someone in canada that performs a similar process.

Prismatic Powders (Medford, Oregon)
Performance Coatings (WA)

I would stick with Jet Hot. They are the most well-known and proven ceramic coating comapny. The Pacesetter header I have on my car was coated by Jet Hot, and it still looks brand new after 3 years of all-weather driving. And, as far as I know, their coatings are also warrantied.

you're right man. I'm better off to go with the original hot-jet
process. I just wanted to go with a canadian shop because
shipping between the seller/ hot-jet in arizona/ customs/ me
might be a bit of a nightmare.

Mind if I ask how much you paid to get your headers done ...
shipping ... turnaround time ...etc... . I know mine will cost a
lil bit more (inline 6), but I just submitted an email inquiry for
a price quote to hot-jet, and I doubt they'll respond anytime
soon.

ok. the guy selling the headers got a quote on the hot-jet process

We'd charge $195 to coat your header in the Sterling finish. The
downpipes would be done for $15 per foot. Add $20 for the flat
black, blue or grey finish. We'll need them here for 3-5 days plus
shipping time back. If the parts are chrome or nickel plated, add
$40 to the total and 2 days for stripping. Return shipping would
be about $27. I will send you our full information package to get
you all the coating benefits in greater detail.

Jet Hot also carries a coating called JET-HOT 2000. This coating
can take temperatures up to 2400 degrees. The JET-HOT 2000
only comes in a flat black, blue or grey finish and has a gritty
texture on the outside.

The Jet Hot 2000 runs $25 more than the sterling silver finish and
$5 more per foot. This coating takes 2 days longer than the
sterling silver process.

what do you guys think? should I spend the extra money on this
process, or go with fireballcoatings.com -- the Canadian coating
company would be less of a hassle (customs issues.. extra
shipping charges etc...)

oh baby.
I won the auction on the banks torquetube header for
my jeep. The savings weren't super-amazing, but they
were good just the same (326usd - 74 dollar savings).
I decided its going straight to fireball coatings. Thanks
everyone, but especialy Jason. I spoke to Mark from
Fireball again, and he told me they don't charge extra
for their 2000F Satin finish application. Hot-Jet wants
an extra 25usd. He told me their coating process and
materials are similar to Jethot......they just a different
applicator

Once I get the header back, its going into storage until
spring. I'm going to do my entire exhaust. TB Spacer
than install my Jet Chip. I want to feel the performance
difference from everything combined in one shot.
