that would be f'in awesome and not surprising if something similiar actually comes out
The one, the only, ME.
frieking sweet, other companies would just be coming out with their newer more powerful models and think they finally have the z06 in their sights.......then BAAM, hit em' with the shocker.
How would traction work when we start dealing with these beasts? As i'd imagine factory cars would have more expectations for traction and control then some aftermarket owner built 600+hp aftermarket car. Rear tires as wide as a metro?
w... what's traction?
and i knew it was gonna be the SS!!!
anyway, yeah, that would be awesome. cant wait to see if anything comes of this.

Probably going to have tires twice as wide as they are tall in order to keep all that power under somewhat control. But damn I'd love to see that sitting in my garage.
Similar cars with that type of power don't have crazy huge tires
But this car should be crazy. I hope it either has wide gearing or a high revving engine to utilize all that power. Would be a killer track car with some super sticky tires and racing dampeners.

Whats the point . . .? The new Z06 just blew away all the other Corvette models with HP and torque. So whats the point of making one that'll blow that away for a higher price??

OMG 600hp street Beast...the current ZO6 already beats the Viper what is dodge gonna have 2 do to that 10cyl to make that thing have another 100hp if not boost it?
if it ain't broke...MAKE IT GO FASTER
thanks for the info goodwrench. that forum was a good read, too. lots of good ideas about the whole thing. that'll be great if they have a Vette to compete with the high end exotics. the Z already competes with the normal ones, but hey, wouldnt it be nice to see chevy/gm get at those high priced yuppy bastards! i mean... uh... go GM. anyway, if they do that, i'd love to see them stick the LS7 into the GTO and badge it the judge.... mmmmm..... and i hate the turbo/supercharger fight people get in. they create different power bands and are for different applications. let the manufacturer decide what they want to put in their cars. either way, it'll be great. and im sure they'll chose no less than the best charger for this car, so i doubt that it'll be that much worse than a turbo... maybe they'll go twin screw? that would be nice.

Not to sound stupid, because I don't know much about Corvettes, but if this thing comes to pass would this be the first SS badged Corvette or have there been others. Also, what has been the top of Corvette line as far as trims. (i.e. Z05, Z06)
Just curious...thanks
there was a previouse SS badged corvette, i believe in the late 50's, early 60's. somewhere in there. and i believe it was a racing thing. as far as top of the line, the Z06 is tip top, so far. the C5 Z06 (last generation vette) was a pretty fast beast, but the C6 Z06 (current generation) topped that one by quite a big. there was a twin cam 32 valve V8 in the C4 in 1990, it was called the ZR-1. in '87 Callaway worked with GM to make a twin turbo vette. that's all i can think of.

I say GM brings back the freaking zr1
I don't see how GM wants to get out of their money problems by making a super car that can compete with the S7, McLaren, Enzo, etc. Cars that are sold at over $100,000 aren't exactly HUGE sellers in the market. I mean really, how many Vipers, Saleen S7's, ME-412's, etc do you see on the streets. I see Vipers randomly, and I've only seen two Ferrari's my entire life on the street. My friend actually saw a green Mucielago (sp?) going down I-294. Point being, super cars aren't exactly sold all that often, so you'd figure a company that is in serious money issues would rather build cars that people can afford, rather then something that may get 100/200 sales a year maybe.

yeah, well move to cali, ive seen so many, vipers its not even funny, my friends dad has a twin turbo one and his mom has a matching one.
i see ferraris, lambos, porches, jags (even the xj220 was at my work a few weeks back - $750,000 new in 93) alll the time, like at least every other month. hell a few weeks ago the was a yellow muchilago and red farrari. last weekend, some guy was in a red ferrari, wanna say f360 - he asked if next time he could land his hellicopter here instead of driving in. so yeah, they will have a huge market outside rural america, think of the markets in So Cal, South Florida, NYC, Chicago - lots of big markets for a supercar under 100 grand
Sigga what?
i meant to say that i see these cars where i work, and on the freeways, but usually just where i work, i see vipers everywhere.
Sigga what?

I live in Chicago and like I said before, I don't see super cars all that much. I see Viper's around here the most. They are kick ass. Come to think of it, the last time I went to go play pool with my friend Terri, I parked next to a Red Viper SRT-10. Gorgeous thing. I'm staring at it drooling, and she looks over at it and goes, "eh, its ugly, I like your car better." I'm like...uhhh, cavalier versus Viper, NO COMPETITION, LOL. I'd like to see Ferrari's more often cause they kick ass.

im lucky, i work at a winery/spa resort in So Cal. i get to see them all time, go out look at them up close, still havent gotten to sit in one yet, but im working on it, or a ride would be even better.
i had one guy that had an f50, he was here for a car show, same as the jag, he was like grab on to the roll bar on top and try and push the car (you know, like depress the suspension) felt like i was pushing on a bar attached to a wall. the thing had an all carbon fiber interior, dash, floor pans, door pannles, seats, everything was this yelowish-gold color cf, i have a pic of it at home as well.
Sigga what?
^^^ That would be kevlar
"i promise we won't get drunk, and go out in boat in the dark, stand up in the boat and fire the gun into the air unless we have life jackets on."
Just as you don't see those supercars that much, it would be the same for this vette! It would obviously be a more eclusivity thing.
I'd only expect your cities such as buckhead (Atlanta), LA (Cali), Various cities in Cali, Seattle, Various cities in FL, hamptons NY, Gold coast (Chi town), and you'll DEFFINATELY see them in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Aruba, Germany, London, etc.
I saw a TON of supercars on my trip to Dubai. I'm talkin Enzo and FFx status supercars.
