Bolt pattern on 87 Buick GNX and 02 WS6 Trans Am?
Wednesday, December 07, 2005 11:42 PM
Well i am mainly wondering what bolt pattern is on the 1987 Buick GNX.... As my dad has his stock rims just sitting there with some nice tires on them that would be perfect for the front of my car for drag racing... no good for tight turns i know, but thats why it would only be for the track... just wondering if the bolt pattern is the 5x100?

Your dad has an Ultra Rare Buick Grand National GNX of which only 1000 were ever made and he pulled the wheels off it?

My GOD man say it isn't so!!! And if it is you realize he could be shot if word gets out about this.

547? Ok , I was always lead to believe it was 500 in 86 and 500 in 87. Thanks for the correction.

Now its even worse!! With ONLY 547 BUILT!!!!

ahah yea it was only #547 and i know of at least a hand full that have been totaled since 87 ... so id say its getting closer to 500.... We have #200 and the reason he had to get new rims was because there is VERY little tire selection that works for the 16" rims... and when your pushing 30+psi of boost and almost every thing you could put into these engines, you need lots of contact in the rear... so now in the place of the stock rims sits (and yes we still have every single bolt, bracket rubber hose that came stock with the car)

Front : 17" by 10" wide and have 275/40/17 tires

Rear : 17" by 13" wide and will have 335/35/17 tires with a 6.5" polished lip

and even these can not hold even going 50-60kph and putting the gas to the floor... you just see the boost needle climb and next thing you know SMOKE SHOW behind you...

He had a company try and make these sizes with the stock GNX look to them... but they couldn't get them to seal properly... so he had to go with the next best thing...

** In the pictures its looks like a huge wheel gap... but there isn't at much as it looks like and also since then he let air out of the rear air bags which lowered it down and looks a lot cleaner**

well thats with a full out ported heads as well.... BUT! thats the reason why we are going for 40psi this up coming supper... with plans to drop in a 800whp Dutwiler engine that my dads buddy is selling (yes we are keeping the stock one too, so if one day we ever want to put it all back to stock trim it can be done)

They'll fit. A friend of mine runs GTA rims(same as GNX) on the front of his 97 TA at the track. They stick out a little past the fender....I'd run em just for track use.

I've seen quite a few 4th gens with GTA wheels on the back with drag radials. You might have to run a spacer on the rear because of the different offset though.
