Hey folks.. I have a really quick q for anyone that might care to answer:
Is there a good North American Tuner for Mercedes Benz C220's? (Other than Brabus... I don't have that kind of money yet). I'm looking at a 1994 C220 (I know... not the Kompressor... yada yada), and I want to find out if I can get ready made kits for this (IE: Maybe a supercharger, Shift kit, LSD, etc..).
Also if there are any sites that anyone could point me to so I can get some information, would REALLY be appreciated.
Thanks all!

Claus Ettenberger Corporation is an importer for Lorinser, but I'm not sure what Lorinser's performance products are. Sorry I couldn't be of more help

Probably have to customize some stuff. I would rather do it that way. You would probably end up with a weak turbocharger or supercharger. Also, look for a "sister" car. Use parts from it. If you have to, swap engines. May have to order parts from overseas. Ask your dealer if you have to. Not much action going on for that car man. Sorry.
Well, the Chassis is shared with the C280 (wagon IIRC), but it's the same engine..
The Closest I might be able to get is a C230/C240 Kompressor, but those are FWD and I think the C220 is RWD... If anyone could correct me, I'd appreciate it. I'm really working in an information vacuum here.

Brabus, Lorinser, Kleemann, AMG, Renntech are a few we worked on our dealership.
The C220 and C280 are not the same engine. Some C280s are either Inline-6 (older)and some are V6(newer). C220/C230 are Inline-4s.
ALL of Mercedes N-A line up are RWD. The only one that is not is the A-Class, which here in the US is not available, not sure for Canada.
If you can try to go for the C230 or C230 Kompressor. The 2.3L N/A is smoother and the K version was peppy.
C-Class was the most reliable in the line-up.
If you need any more help, let me know.

Thanks Mr Goodwrench.. I knew about Brabus, AMG and Lorinser, and I thought Renntech only amde stuff ofr VW/Audi. I had been thinking of a C230 Kompressor, but those are a bit out of my budget. I can get the 94 C220 for about $5000 CDN (the owner is a friend, she's got her heart set on a Jaguar)at about 175,000 KMS. My only problem is that it's automatic, but I think I can live with that... for now...
I'm seriously thinking about it because my Alero is about to puke, and I don't want to own it when it does.
And, the A class isn't available in North America... it won't conform to emissions standards, and Mercedes doesn't give a damn that it doesn't.

GAM.
That is equivalent to about 108K miles. It is a lot of miles but the price seems to be reasonable. Being it is Mercedes, expect to pay a heavy price tag for parts, more so on electronics, just something to keep in mind.
Also.
The 94-00 C-class only came in autos. I forgot to tell you LSD is already in the C-class, if memory serves me correct Electronic Stability Program was implemented in the 97 or 98 model year, which helps when doing a corner and accelerating at the same time. Consider it a electronic LSD and more if you will.

That's what I've been reading... I know that it's a pile of mileage, but the current owner is owner #2, the car is from B.C., and all the service records have been kept, and major and minor services have been universally performed @ a dealership. This thing was babied.
I took a look at the driver's seat leather, and if it was replaced, it was done a LONG time ago... But, the interior is clean as a whistle, and the engine is sound and had it's last tune up about 10,000 Kms ago, and has 2 full sets (ie 5 tires) of summer and winter tires, and the winters are brand new with the sticker still on them. It oughtta be good for a while longer after I get it rustproofed and tinted.
If I get this, I'm probably going to say bubye to my ideas of owning a G35, because ultimately, this will be more of a longer term project, and I don't have to trouble myself with the warranty
Also, I've found out there's a Turbo kit for the C220 (I think I read it was from Greddy, but I might be wrong), and eibach makes a front/rear roll bar and lowering spring package. If I can get the guy to bend a bit on the price, I'll be able to afford the suspension stuff definitely, and the Turbo will come later on. Maybe I'll get rims before summer as well.

I also really appreciate the heads up on the other manufacturers...
I'd looked at Kleemann stuff, until I saw the price tag.. after I picked myself up off the floor, I decided to move along
If I have to do an engine swap later, I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.
I still haven't taken the car for a test drive or anything yet, I just got a quick look at it after work.

Nice project but get used to the expensive aftermarket price tags that's the only thing that kept me away from a C230 kompressor
Well, I didn't anyhow.. The guy wasn't going to budge from his asking price ($7000), and when I went to get the Used Vehicle info Package, I found out that the car was a rebuild, and that state-farm didn't divulge who did the repairs... I asked him if he knew it was a rebuild, he said that there had been a minor accident and a crack in the bumper and tail-lens replacement, I asked him if he's ever written off a car, and had the insurance agency take over the ownership...
Anyhow...
My G35 plans are back on.

Good.
I hear you can swap an LSx quite easily into those...
Why not CTS-V? You work for the government... you make enough... or at least it should be easy enough to steal.
LOL... I don't make THAT much...
Besides, I don't have a Garage, and I live near a High School... I don't want to have to spend all night watching the car, shotgun in hand.
