Did anybody hear the real reason why they are moving to Tennessee (I forget where). From what I was told today, from WWJ 950 (detroit news radio) was one of 3 things.
- So they would be closer to thier plants
- To lower costs. As in cost of living in LA is outstanding. As oposed to where they are going now.
- They dont want to lay off anybody (since its a desgrace to japaneese managers). So they want more people to be foreced to quit (because they wont move). So in return, they can say that they never "layed anybody off"
or ... just all 3

That was the reason.
The people that worked in California did not want to move to Tenn. So as of now Nissan is hiring about 60-70% of the force in Tennesse.
Maybe the Saturn workers from Springhill, Tenn may want to look there as that plant will shut down next year.

Actually THAT was the reason. Not only is cost of living lower, but cost of real estate is MUCH MUCH MUCH cheaper then in Torrance where they are located now. Money is the one and only reason they are moving.

Ok .... both of those answers make alot of sense. I didn't quite hear the whole argument. Thank you for clarifying that up
