Anyone notice the crossover cars these days are really divisive?
You either love them or you hate them?
I don't mind the HHR, xB, 5, Element, PT Cruiser, etc....
I don't know what triggers the hating on them either. At least they're not the same old @!#$ cars, SUVs and Mini-vans.
If it's not network news, it's probably the truth getting out.
Some people are like slinkies: Not really good for anything,
but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them
down a flight of stairs.

i think that's exactly what triggers it... they stand out in a sea of mediocre crap. why do you think everyone loves harleys but hates V-rods?
personally, i don't think they're too bad. the interiors are very roomy and there's a lot of headroom, but they still have DRUM BRAKES!!! for christ's sake, it's the 21st century

That's the point. Automakers style them so that someone will love them, and other's will hate them, but either way, everyone knows what kind of car it is. Otherwise we'd end up with a world full of Toyota Camry's, everyone's indifferent to the styling, not ugly, not pretty.

probably because one guy designed them both
other cars, better cars?
