Tuesday, November 08, 2005 12:28 PM
Mazda Motor Corp. said Monday it will launch two upgraded versions of its brand icon RX-8 sports car in the Japanese market.

The "RX-8 Sports Prestige Limited 2" in six-speed manual and four-speed automatic transmission models has such features as newly designed seats with mixed suede-like artificial leather upholstery and leather covers, for a luxurious look.

It also has a specially tuned suspension, large-diameter disc brakes and a special front suspension cross member to raise driving performance, the automaker said.
The car will be put on the market in mid-November and the suggested retail price is 3.15 million yen both for both the manual and automatic transmission models.

In addition, Mazda said it will launch an upgraded version of the standard RX-8, with a new interior design, addition of popular exterior body colors, and an advanced keyless entry and start system option, expect a possible power boost aswell.

The last thing any rotary engien needs is a turbo. Not railin' ya here, they just suck ass when it comes to boost and reliability. I've had friends with RX-7 turbo II's and FD, they both blow. A hard streetported RX-8 with some nice intake, exhaust mods would be quick enough.

I'll have a sig someday....................

it would please a LOT of people to get the 7 back...quite a few rotorheads were pissed to see that the 8 was a 4 door. sure, 2 of the doors are suicides...but it's not the sleek little 2-seater coupe they were used to.

and what's funny is most of those folks conveniently forgot that the second generation RX7 had a 4-seater version that did exist. barely.

the rotary is great with boost.....like everything else it requires maintenance.Your talking about cars as much as 20 years old now.Hell yeah they are gonna need work.Expect to pay a hunk of change just replacing all the vacuum hoses. You can't tell me a properly cared for twin turbo can't be made to make big power.Besides the fact that they love to rev and turbo's love revolution's,seems like a match to me.

K&D rotory here in nazereth ,pa made a 500 whp rx'7 on turbo that needed it's apex seals changed every 20,000 miles, they were saying people regularly bring in their rx-7 TT (STOCK) for apex seal changes ever 50,000-60,000 miles, these arent high mileage motors for boost, NA maybe

n/a on average gets over 100k miles on the seals.
13bt gets, on average, 70-80k.
13btt - the WORST of the lot, and the worst fire hazard - gets the ridiculously low numbers.
