I was curious if the mazda 3 had an american copy? such as the WRX = 92X ....matrix=vibe etc etc
thanks
Not yet. The next generation Ford Focus will be based off of the Mazda 3 platform.
I think Volvo has, or is going to have a platform based off of the Mazda 3 as well.
But this should be in "Other Cars".
the current european focus is
3, euro focus, and s40 share the same platform
All i know is i rented an 05 Focus last week (actually the work picked it out) and i REALLY like it. Very roomy in the front, had some get up and go, awesome on gas
The 3 is so nice though, I take it over the 6 though 6 offers 6 cyl, but the 3 offers the 2.3 also with lighter car and better interior.
i thought they were the same also.....i know the volvo is nothing but a focus which sounds kinda weird
their nice cars tho, ride good, handle good, just slow and unreliable is what kills em
Volvo S40 (2005-current), Europe's Ford Focus (2005-current), Mazda 3 2004-current uses the global C-platform.
The Focus that we have in N-A is a solo platform, but a very advance and good one at that, with great potential.

unfortunately for north america, we will never receive the current euro focus which as has been stated is built on the same platform as the current mazda3 and volvo s40.
the next gen euro focus will be the next gen north american focus as well.
i personaly like focus's to the person who posted "slow and unreliable" theyre actualy pretty peppy for what they are, and with a 10 year/100k mile warranty, if you actualy take care of your car and dont burn un-warrented things like clutch, brakes, tires, struts, then it will last a long time and not give you a bother
On the other hand....you have other fingers.
i had lots of toys when i was young.slinky,etc.but once i found my penis, that was all she wrote
