Sorry, wouldn't pay the extra $$$ for something that looks...like a civic.

Not that bad looking, I really like the headlights on it.

Have a good one,

This is essentially replacing the Acura EL (acura branded civic) that we've had here in Canada.

What is somewhat interesting is that they are using the K20A3 (Base RSX motor or a variation of) in it instead of the new R18A engine that is going in the base civics.

Also, I don't think there has ever been an EL coupe, so I highly doubt that there is gonna be a CSX coupe.

I think that's the way it should be (use the 2.0L). It give you at least something to offset the weight of all those options. You don't want to spend more on an acura only to be slower than a civic.

Yeah, caving a coupe would probably take away from rsx sales.

I agree that's the way it should be but that isn't the way it's been in the past. The EL has always just had more or less the base civic engine while the top trim civic had something better. Civic SIR (B16A\K20A3) > EL(D17\D17) and that is still true.. with the up coming SI (Checking honda.ca it looks like our Civic trims might finally matching those of our friends to the south, ie. no more CAD SI = US EX, etc)

that's how the new U.S. Civic sedan SHOULD look like....at the very least they should give us the tail lights, because IMO the only thing that kills the new Civic sedan is the tail lights.

I hear ya, but look at it this way. the CSX is to a civic
sedan what an SRT-4 is to a neon

Luc Sipkema wrote:What is the price?

no price yet. I snagged the info off acuraworld.com.
they're guessing 24,000-28,000cdn, but we'll know
when the acura.ca site gets updated.

and they definitely won't make a coupe which is too
bad because the new civic coupe is better looking
than the sedan IMO. Acura figures if you want a 2dr
acura than get a base RSX. Mind you the RSX has
less interior room (no HIDs, no NAVI option)

the engine is used in Asia I bet because we have 2.0 accords and 2.0 CRVs back in Taiwan. But yeah, it look like the Accord with a smaller engine, that's all. Like how the TSX and Accord being same.

the front is not as wierd and ugly as the civic. I don't think it's as agressive looking as the present EL.

As for pricing we have been told, at my dealership, between $26 000 - $32 000 CDN, but that's not set in stone. Which is alot more then the present one.

this is a lil better, the rear isnt to bad

I prefer the styling of the current 1.7EL too, but I really like all
the gadgets that come with the new CSX. I wish the EL came
with the base rsx engine, sportshift, HIDS and NAVI system.
Now that would be awesome

Ummm.. the Accord and the TSX are not the same car .. the european accord and the TSX are essentially the same car but the european accord is NOTHING like our accord.

the csx has more LUXURY than the civic

Re: 2006 Acura CSX (Canadian Exclusive)

I think that would be too much of a compliment for the csx,
but you're right. Honda is trying to pass off this civic as a
Cadillac of sorts (that's why its branded as an Acura, and
not a CIVIC EX or what have you)

Personally, I see it as a civic sedan that's loaded with some
extra goodies. Its a good option for current civic fans who
may want another civic -- with more creature comforts.
That's why I compared the civic/csx to the neon/srt4. I mean
an srt4 is still a neon nomatter how you dice it; it simply has
enough options that Chrysler decided to differentiate it with
a name other than a neon. Also, renaming a performance
based neon an srt-4 helps shed some of that car's economy
car mystique. The same goes for the csx.

Alot of people don't make the connection between Honda and Acura, and have no idea that the EL is a fancy Civic.
