The new Toyota Yaris' have arrived at my dealership. For those who don't know, it's the next gen Toyota Echo hatch (Sold pretty much everywhere, except the US), and a sedan should be coming early next year.
It's an all around nice car, and apparantly the quietest small car out there. Has way better options (power windows are now available). Better than the old Echo, but still very similar. Doesn't feel cheap, for a sub-compact.
Yep, We've even had them in Canada for a couple years now as the Echo Hatchback, the new ones are going to be called the Yaris here as well. I really want to see someone swap something that makes a good amount of power into one of these(they weigh like 2000 lbs) maybe a 2zz or something like that..
Yaris, what a stupid name.
i would rather see toyota develop more cars to appeal to the younger crowd. they made a great start with scion, but it's almost too little too late. the cars are still slow, and when compared to things like the cobalt SS, etc, they fall flat.

The Echo hatch/Yaris (I agree it's a stupid name) is prolly the best looking sub compact out there.

Why would you compare the Yaris (which I think it is a neat little car that competes very well in the subcompact market) to something like a cobalt SS.. Toyota's only real competitors to the cobalt SS SC would the GTS, and (after some TRD mods) the tC.

That's exactly what the Yaris is. Aimed at younger people. Toyota's target market was 20-30 year old men.
And now that the Celica is discontinued, the Highlander Hybrid is probably Toyota's quickest vehicle. Maybe the Avalon.

I don't get it... too later for what? Isn't Toyota leading in car sales now or something similar... ?
Also, many people consider the Scion Tc to be a great car for the price.

so then you've seen Peter's Si blue 98 corolla with crazy amounts of body work, and a Celica 2zz-ge +6spd manual trans...
if you know the car i'm talking about, how's the body work in person? i've always heard his trunklid(GS300 taillight conversion) was badly done.

Yaris sounds like an Eastern Europe country
