Must say, it is all basic with the V6 3800 series engine in it, but it has a great feel to it. Very tight steering, very comfortable seating, love the digital info center, and has lots of pep for being the base engine. Guess they also come with the same V6 supercharged or the V8. It only had 7 miles when I picked it up (rental from Enterprise while the Crapalier is in the shop) and they left all the tags on it still. Price was only $22,000 which I thought was pretty inpressive. May be swaying me to getting a new ride and *SNIFF* new car smell rocks! Now to ruin it with the smell of burnt rubber and french fries! Hey, you buy the insurance you have to thrash the hell out of it! Anybody else bought one of these yet or have any more input on them?
come w/ a v8 in the gxp version
other cars, better cars?
i dont own an '04 and up, but i own a '97, and im happy with it. the newer ones kinda mesh a modified drivetrain with a much improved interior (not that the old ones were bad). as far as i know, the base is still the 3.8, the GT is a 3.8 with computer tweaks (around 200 horse), the GTP is a 3.8 S/C'ed (260horse 280 lb/ft torque), and the GXP is a 5.3L V8 (305 horse). good cars. i went from a cavalier to a GP and it was a world of difference... and i own an old one. good thing to look into. wonderful community for them, too. with a decent aftermarket. just gotta knwo where to look.

it's not how fast you go, it's how you get there that counts.

Yeah I think the 3800s are pretty nice and so does my fiero
. Series 1 though....
I got a 05 grand prix that thing has some power to it its the GT with the 3.8. it can get up and go real quick. I like the muffler sound so going up a hill has that nice sound to it. Going around corners is like nothing for that thing its got a low roof and wide body so it can take them nice. the inside the dash i like how it is made everything at a good reach. The front i like alot the way the lights look give it a nice look. Its a really nice car for the price they come with. Its got power everything and got it for $23.000
Hasn't that 3800 OHV engine been around for a hundred years? Pretty much every GM car in the last 20 years had it (except the j-bodies).
But yeah GP's rock. I was seriously considering a 2004 GP abotu a year ago but didn't buy it beause they wouldn't give me a discount despite the fact that the 2005's had already come in and it had about 400 kms on it.
The only downfall I can come to grips on it with is that A) Once the other vehicle is in my garage (2 stall) I barely have any room to open the doors because both vehicles are so big and B) The baby seat I have is a total PITA to get in and out and I have to tip my daughter completely sideways to get her through the opening between the base and the roofline of the car. Otherwise, pretty darn nice. I have to take it back tomorrow though. Stupid State Farm said they will cover my claim originally and now they are going back on their word - imagine that. Better Business Bureau, here I come! Thanks for all the input from other sources though!
me and the wife have a 05' gt, pretty nice. Gas mileage was great, we took a 400 mile drive, or so, and we only filled up when we left, and like 45 mins before we got there. I agree on the car seat thing. It is hell trying to get my daughter in and out. I love the way it feels on curves, and the grip is nice. Not really feeling the interior, to plain for me. Other than that, i love it. Wish it was mine.
anyhow, regarding the claim, State Farm told you that they were going to pay for your claim. What happend, because they usually have a reason for these things.
Well, this is kinda long so here is the short and sweet and anybody with the RKSport twin exhaust should listen up - The only way to mount that exhaust pipe is to use the supplied welded on bracket and mount it to the frame of the body. This was installed about 3 years ago. Well, recently the muffler bracket broke, putting excess weight on the entire setup and pulled the pipe that connects to the exhaust manifold right off of the damn engine. This all happened because of a really rough patch in the road. Now it is basically undrivable unless you like to sound like a stock car and plan on carrying an oxygen supply to keep you alive from the carbon monoxide exiting right out of the engine and into the driver's area. I call State Farm about simply using my roadside assistance to get it towed to Monro muffler to get it welded back, but the agent tells me, "Oh, since it happened while driving, we can do a claim for you and file it under a collision and repair it for your $100 deductible, pay for the tow, and a rental". GREAT I am thinking so she directs me to Byer's Deleware which is a Chevy dealer in town that works claims directly through them. Now the claims adjuster comes out and says, "This only happened because it was an incorrect install and vibration shook it lose from normal wear and tear". Thus the claim closed out and I am looking at huge repair bill if I have them put all new parts on as they were promising or else I run it over to Monro and see if they can weld it all back together. In the end, they pissed me off and I have ALL my insurance - both cars, home, wife's ring, my gun collection, and life insurance through them and pay a good price every month to them but they won't handle a $800 claim as promised to keep me a happy customer. I also feel like the aduster has his head up his arse for saying it was installed incorrectly when in fact it was install by a professional muffler shop. Who do I go after? State Farm? Monro Muffler? RKSport? This whole situation just sucks, but I am through ranting now......
