Just like it says, what effects can consistant racing have the 2.4? Pretend the motor is well mainted and taken care of besides this.

parts can wear down faster. like rings, bearings, etc etc
Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
run synthetics and do regular meinatenence you should be ok.
Also depends on what type or racing, and your style of racing.
also if your planning on boosting (your sig) that's a whole nother monster.
I have my 2001 Z24, modded from day one, racing from day one. About 150-170 track passes on it. Still on stock clutch, using drag radials all of those passes as well. Car runs 14.8's all day. 57k on it. No problems.
Hehe, 2.4's are tricky little buggers. Some get the snot beaten out of them daily, and last forever, and others are babied and die anyway. That's just the way it goes I guess...
O noes!
Well... if you're beating on it and you know you are. Shouldnt you be doing the scheduled maintenance at a little sooner intervals?

Noise doesnt add horsepower. Horsepower adds noise.

Wow, still on stock clutch? Thats a lot of trips down the track. Do you recommend that 57mm throttle body you have?
I personally wouldnt use Royal Purple engine oil for everyday use, most of those oils are for "racing" and are missing some additives. As for having the engine last, its the chance you take. Get a good set of guages and keep a monitor on the engine, etc. Wouldnt hurt to get an engine oil analasys done every 2-3 or so oilchanges also. (for the minor cost its worth it)

I beat on my car occasionally.. I do all the maintenace on it.. And I swore I saw blue smoke comming out my exhaust on the startup the other morning. The car just turned 3 years old. Lease is up in 6 months, thank god.
Yes I do recommned the 57mm TB for N/A use. A 62mm is too big for N/A unless the motor is internally built.
My 1998 Z24 has had the crap raced out of it and i always have driven it hard. When i hit 80,000 miles i had to get a new head ghasket, so i also rebuilt it while i was in there, The parts dint look too bad, rings were a lil warn but nother serious but since then ive lost the power steering punp and the water pump is leaking a lil these days. Other than that no major problems for me. Still original clutch and i go through about a set of tires every summer and i get my snow tires re-studded ever winter

I keep up with oil changes and the like, and spray anywhere from 50-100 shot at the track depending on track conditions (and my mood) and the only thing I'm noticing after 40 passes (half on spray, half NA) is that my rings are getting a litte beat up. The car burns about 1/2 quart between oil changes ever 3000 miles.
Well my 99 auto with 110,000 miles on it gets bet on a lot. I mean at the track it gets kicked in the nuts, and it still loves me. I am very good on regular maintenance.

Hers a list of a few things I can say probably went either because of my mods and racing or atleast wore out faster than they would have:
1-rear struts and plates(plates went 6 times within one year)
2-Figured out it was bad front struts and plates putting wear on the back ones so changed them as well
3-water pump
4-timing chain
5-clutch replaced( transmission needs new synchros now too)
6-tires(obviously)
7-rotors & pads(again obviously)
8-wheel bearings(x3)
9-drive shaft passenger side( not sure how I manged to that still
10-Power Steering rack now leaks but will be replaced soon(not a bad leak but still)
11-An O-Ring gasket on the side of the engine where coolant comes in went so had to change that out
12-Control arms on both sides
13-several alignments
That's about all I can think of right now, I guess some get luckier than others. I`m just glad it's all fixed except the timing chain and transmission which is getting fixed soon.
Yes officer I knew the speed limit was 50
i have a 97 z24 and race it hard, like theirs no tomorrow. But the thing thats keeps on breaking are the differential gears. All the rest of the parts are ok, except the waer pump, but hey the motor has more than 118,000 miles on it.
It is the luck of the draw, i have a 96 fire with the second engine and tranny, i did regular maintainance and lost the 100k mile strong engine due to an incompetent mechanic. My advice: anything that goes wrong FIX IT YOURSELF, and dont be lazy, and if you dont know how... thats what jbo is here for. Anything done by you, you know its done right.
Cars dont F@# themselves, MECHANICS DO!!!!
Oh, I thought this was just about the engine itself. Yea, I had to replace the clutch, and rebuild the trans.
Engines naturally consume oil. 1/2 quart every 3K is weaksauce oil consumption
