well last night was my first time ever at the track, and i managed a best time of 16.192 at 85.9. i have a warm air intake, 4-1 header, and 2 1/4" exhaust, and a b&m short throw shifter. elevation was around 95ft above sea level, and i was launching real low (around 1.5k) so i wouldn't have wheel hop and my last run i launched around 1.9k -2k and had a lot of wheel hop but it improved my 60'. on my first run i was shifting at redline, on my second run i redlined 1st and shifted around 6.3k in 2nd and 3rd on my 3rd run i redlined 1st and shifted at 6k for 2nd 3rd and on my last run i redlined 1st shifted at 6.2k for 2nd and 3rd. i know my reaction times suck lol i was nervous in all my runs. any suggestions on how i can improve my times would be appreciated thanks!

I feel like taking a tinkle on an ecNOtec...
thanks
, i was hoping to break 15s but being my first time ever at the track i still left happy. i have mounts and control arm bushings on the way so maybe next time i go ill be in the 15s
get that 60' down and you will be in the 15's.
Yea, you can tell from your 1/4 MPH that it is capable of a mid-low 15 second pass. Just keep practicing the launch, and try to not to be nervous. I remember my first time at the track, I red-lighted by about 1 or 2 seconds, lol. For the launch, try about 4000 and do a fast-ish slip to keep from wheel hopping at about 75% throttle or so, and as soon as you have the clutch all the way out, floor it. I am sure you know, but the whole goal is to try to get going as fast as possible without wheel spin. So you may have to revise the technique above for you mods, tires, track conditions, etc.
Remember, always try to have, the strip should always be a blast!
thanks!! yea i know i have to work on my reaction times and on how i launch, i usually pop the clutch but ive seen my friend launch his eco and he stalls it till around 3.5k-4k and feathers out the clutch and it seemed to take off way faster than mine and we have the same mods..
Yep. Unless you have RWD on slicks or AWD, you usually can't pop the clutch. And I don't know if you know this or not, but reaction times don't affect your overall ET unless you are bracket racing or index racing (which you are not). It is always a good thing to work on though, it is always fun to beat a faster car to the finish line because you got them on the reaction time!
ooohhh ok lol yea im not too familiar with track number or anything like that, thats nice to know, and yea i used to pop the clutch with my awd talon and that thing took off compared to the cavy. i gonna have to practice on launching the car or get some pointers from my friend
reacation time dont mean jack unless you are in some sort of competition race like brackets.
you can sit at the line for 5 minutes and still get a 15.9 pass. or have a perfect light and still get the same time.
but just keep practicing.
Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
well im going to the track once again tonight, i havent done anything to the car since the last time i went but im hoping to improve my time, if i do a 15 sec pass ill be very happy. i do have some parts that i havent installed but i also have other parts on the way so ill just wait till i get everything i ordered and then run it once more.
i had a weapon r intake, and cheapo dual exhaust with a b and m short shifter and managed a 15.4 at 88 on my second time at the track. i reved it to about 4500 rpm and slipped the clutch then when it was liek 75 percent engaged i floored it and dropped the rest of the car. i was seeing better 60" times then than i now have with my turbo setup and that is on neogens and solid mounts, i havent got the hang of the turbo launch without giving to much power yet
running rich? turn the boost up
Everything that was mentioned above plus if are racing with those 19's listed in your profile then that is definitely hurting your times and probably the main cause of alot of your wheel hop.
Find some 14's or 15's or even 16's and run those at the track..... It will make a big difference.
get that 60ft to around 2.2 and you should be around 14.7 to 14.9

Where are you getting that from?? Shaving 2-4 tenths on your 60 foot will not gain you 1.0 - 1.4 seconds in the 1/4 mile.
The ratio is near 1:1, shave a tenth off your 60 foot = shave a tenth off your 1/4 mile time.
when i turbo'd my car on low pro 17s it ran a 14.5 at 102, i put 15s with new neogens on it and it ran a 13.7 with almost all the wheelhop gone
running rich? turn the boost up
i meant to type 15.7 to 15.9
im not racing with the 19s i have the stock 16s to race and i couldnt make it last week because it rained...im going today and ill let you know how it goes when i come back...btw i still have stock mounts and my mod list is up to date...
well i didnt get my times any lower lol but theres always next time
