Not really big into the race scene, but I thought i'd check it out.
I noticed a lot of guys are racing their cavs, and I couldn't help but to ask, is there money to be made in amateur racing? I mean yeah I know you can "Win" money, but i'm talking along the lines of freelance weekend warriors...how does one go about having this car you've paid a lot into start to "Pay you back" as a buddy of mine put it.
go to shows that have different racing categories/cash prizes.
compete. win. get paid.
classes are everthign from pro to street to grocery getter at typcical events
Eat my shift

Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
Its not about the money. Its about the thrill of the race. Its only about the money when it is professional racing.
plenty of money to be made at our track, whether its points race. or true street drags. winner this year for our local true street drags took home $5,000. Plenty of money to be made, just gotta be consistant.
i won $100 bucks at ifo......

Even when I raced actual race cars (600 micro sprint/358 full sized sprint) and finished consistently in the top 5, it wasn't even close to being worth it financially. The fun on the other hand, priceless.
"In Oldskool we trust"
our circle track cars have well over $6000 in them before they hti the track... if we win the feature we get $200 WOOOHOOOOO!!!!!
so no, no money to be MADE
Our bump n grinds run arround 500 to 1000 per feature. This year figure 8 (not for cavs) finals gave out 10k for the season winner. Bump n grind was 5k for each class. We here in hillbilly land take our backyard racing seriously.
Except the amount of money you'll make is no where near the amount of money you'll have spent on the car.

where my dad races at you can enter any car winner usually makes around 300 for a win off a 35 entry fee. usually pay back about 8 spots the last few getting there entry fee back.
Most racing is for the thrill and fun unless it's NASCAR or IRL
you CAN make a small fortune in any type of car racing, but only if you start with a large fortune
