i have a 90 cavalier 2.2 5 speed i race it on a 3/8 mile track. i have had the motor rebuilt n the head was shaved. is the any thing i can do to make it faster.
tons you can do... need car specs, track specs, and rules...
also how much you wanna spend?
what do u need to know. were suspose to be stock but were tired of being beat by cheaters. ive done cold air intake rebuilt motor but i dont know anything else to do were new to the 4 cylinders stuff
You picked the least horsepower 2.2. Your best bet would be to find a 94 or 95 2.2 and swap everything over. Change fuel pump, and fuel lines. The 90 has tbi and the 94 has mpi so its alot better. Your 90 has 95hp and the 94-95 have 120 hp. Also you can look at some of bobs builds and use the 98+ 2200 pistons in the 94 block for a nice compression bump. What do they check in your tech area after a race?
our tech guy dont know anything about newer cars is the anything we can do w/the rev limiter were hitting it about half way down the strait away
shift up a gear or get a bigger tire.
i would do the 98 style psitons to raise the compression and get a mild cam to raise the rpm band a little...
search the forums and look at my posts on engine builds and such... i dont wanna retype it all here...
if you keep that tbi there is a little cover on the back of the throttle body pull that cover off and put a washer or 2 behind the spring... it will give the engine more fuel
what about the rev limiter n were can u get a cam
you need to have a stock cam reground, i have all mine done at Northeast Cams in brent wood new hampshire. the rev limiter i dont know about
well is the any way to get a lil more hp
